The client wanted two villas on this plot - one for himself and one for his mother. Each villa had its own space requirements while they wanted to share the entrance and utility spaces. They needed a common swimming pool, gym and a staff block for 6 staff members. He needed both the houses to be entered from the same level and be connected through passages. For his mother’s villa, he wanted it to be designed keeping in mind that she might need a wheelchair and a nurse in the near future.

contemporary Indian home where the ‘Indianness’ comes across through its details. While the overall style of the house is modern, with an open-plan living room and other such larger design aspects, once we take a closer look, the house makes acute references to Indian roots with soft furnishings and traditional decor elements. Carpets, pillows, upholstery, bed linen and table runners all bring together Indian prints and colours, while certain floor accents and furniture pieces also have an exquisite Indian flavour. Traditional Architectue in old city part of ujjain is dominated by temple architeture because of the mythological importance of the city and Mahakaleshwar temple which attractes millions of tourist all year. residential construction in the region has flat roof construction and with brick, timber and concrete houses with low ceiling height. varanda is a prominet element in the old city due to its conpact planning and life style.

HISAR (haryana)

SITE ANALYSIS

Hisar has fertile alluvial soil interspersed with highly permeable very sandy tracts in bagar tract several with water table more than 100 feet below ground containing brackish water usually unfit for human consumption, where dust storms frequent during the warm summer months from April till the end of July when monsoon arrives.

Commercial office buildings are known to consume lot of electricity. Considerable amount of this energy goes into ensuring occupant comfort. This comfort can be ensured through sustainable means of providing adequate natural daylight and ventilation. It’s important that glass and window openings and their usage in a building is balanced in a way to improve daylighting without compromising the building’s thermal performance.

Open workspace layouts allow for more flexibility but simultaneously cause distrurbance though noise and interruption. Hybrid offices can be established by locating the active zone away from the quiet zone while maintaining their proximity.

Employees after COVID-19 are expected to demand more flexibility and work remote. Open offices could prove better in this

Marsassoum,LocationSenegal Sengal is located on the west of the African continent. Marsassoum is a small town in the Ziguinchor Region ofSenegal, roughly 33 kilometers (21 mi) from Ziguinchor. It lies on the bank of the Soungrougrou River Segregating materials as to opaque, perforated, and semi-open and using them accordingly can also reduce the cost of construction. (Mud, bamboo, wooden truss, zinc sheet for the roof)

Choosing a material that is indigenous to the place, not only reduces the embodied energy but also connects psychologically to the native users. A podium from where the entire school can be addressed at a time and create a feeling of unity is necessary for the development of the students, where they can showcase their talent. Open space on the first floor can make learning more interactive and productive. The central location of the principal's office and teacher's room can help the administration to keep an eye on the students all around. 2 toilets for girls and 2 for boys while 2 staff toilets one for each gender. Girls toilet is well segregated and enclosed to provide a safer environment so that a student does not hesitate to use it. bamboo is used inside the first-floor wall to reduce the thickness of the wall, therefore, reducing weight. The library is situated at the corner with an open space to study outside.

is created by local human resources (teachers, students, people) & local materials (bamboo, clay bricks, rammed earth, straw) with a simple construction method which makes the structure anchored. The ground floor has loadbearing walls using a technique similar to cob walling. The upper storey is a frame construction of bamboo beams and vertical and diagonal members arranged at right angles to the building. The upper floor is open and spacious, the openings and corridors offering views across the surroundings. Below the stairs are benches and wall cavities to be used as reading spaces. Orchards and corrals serve as a source of practical learning for the kids.

The roof is supported by bamboo columns which pass the load down to the earthen bag wall or the ground. The gray water from the sink is stored separately and can be used for watering plants while the water from the cubicles is stored in an underground septic tank. The soil dug out will be used as filling for the earthen bag. Separate toilets for girls under the age of 12, to avoid early exposure of biological process to kids. Toilet for her provides a proper sanitary pad dispenser and shooting system for menstrual hygiene. Toilet cubicles are wet areas which makes it uncomfortable for changing clothes whenever needed hence a changing room is provided for that purpose. The circulation uses common entry which is bifurcated to reduce the traffic and separate exits to reduce retracing of the path which would segregate wet and dry walking paths. Transition spaces play an important role in reducing the length of the queue.

Toilets in Indian villages is still a matter of debate, countrymen are not getting proper sanitation facilities. Rural schools provide a space to study but not the environment for the student,’s growth therefore personal hygiene is essential. Girls face a lot of issues of sanitation as it is not just the matter of personal hygiene for them it is directly connected to their safety and mental comfort. Public spaces are lacking behind to provide them a sense of comfort, which is one of the main reasons girls are eventually withdrawing their names from schools. The Toilet for her used an earthen bag wall with mud plaster over it for the semi circular wall, In case of unavailability of bamboo, wooden panels can be used. Modules can be easily replicated to provide multiple sets of toilets where more no. of water closets are required as shown in the illustration on the top right corner

Through our design, we have aimed to bring people together socially and provide a physical setting for socioeconomic activities by the virtue of tangible and intangible features. People can be seen conversing and reminiscing the age old culture of this holy city. Visual and other senses are stimulated by vibrant colors, rich aromas, and numerous sounds on the street. We have realised the opportunity to design streets that prioritize the safety and comfort of pedestrians, instead of the vehicle-oriented spaces that we are used to. The design asks how we consider perspectives around public spaces within the context of the current pandemic and looking beyond to how our interventions today will evolve and adapt to be relevant, appropriate and purposeful in the “New Normal”
