Be The Engineer...
ou can actually be the engineer of a steam locomotive at the Nevada Northern Railway Museum. It is an intense hands-on experience that you will remember forever! You’re can show up at the engine house at o’dark thirty, to help prepare the locomotive for the day. You will be doing this in the original 1907 engine house. After the air brake test, it’s off to the mainline, through the 115-year-old rail yard.
at your command!
Now its time! You’re sitting in the engineer’s seat of a centuryold steam locomotive on the main line! You open the cylinder cocks, give two blasts on the whistle, your hand easing out the throttle. Then you hear it! Chuff! Chuff! Chuff! The locomotive is moving

long, but its dark, the cab fills up with smoke and steam. The fireman throws in more coal, the cab lights up briefly, and then it’s through the tunnel into the sun light. More throttle as the grade steepens and then another tunnel. You hear the locomotive reverberate through the tunnel. And then you’re out of the tunnel running along US 50. You’re high up in the cab of the iron horse, now you get to wave to people in the cars driving by. By this time, you’re only a third of the way into your trip. I could go on - but you need to come out and experience it for yourself. To s i g n u p f o r y o u r t r i p , give us a call (775) 289-2085 or online www.nnry.com/pages/ enginweer.php
