Emerging artists take their place in the market
A
rtists in the Marketplace, a popular annual program created by the Bronx Museum of the Arts, has burst across the borough this summer with works by 73 emerging artists at the museum, Wave Hill, Randalls Island and the 1285 Avenue of the Americas Art Gallery. The program features a broad range of works including sculptures, video instillations and performances by world wide artists currently living in the New York City. It gives the artists professional development resources and an opportunity to show their work to the public. Participants choose one of the museum’s twice-yearly 13-week workshops culminating in the summer displays of work from both sessions. The ongoing shows at the museum and at Wave Hill will remain open until Sept. 8, while the exhibit at the Avenue of the Americas Art Gallery will continue until Sept. 20. This year, the Bronx Museum of the Arts has incorporated its third annual FLOW program — an outdoor summer art exhibition that continues until November — along the shoreline at Randall’s Island Park.
