What do you do when the summer is winding down and you’ve got to get back to the grind of school and work? If you’re the merchants of Belmont — the Little Italy of the Bronx — you create a party of impressive proportions showing off the history and culture of a proud people as well as the fabulous food and artisanal products the neighborhood is known for and a non-stop afternoon of traditional Italian street performances, celebrity guest appearances, music and kids’ activities. This year’s festival — on Arthur Avenue from East 187th Street to Crescent Avenue — also celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Belmont business community. It kicks off at 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 7 and it doesn’t wind down until 6:30 p.m. Parking is available at Fordham University, 685 E. Fordham Road, with free shuttle service to and from Arthur Avenue.
