Jade Williams, better known as Sunday Girl, is most definitely one to watch. With two singles under her belt, an album due for release in November and her first tour with Ellie Goulding coming up, Sunday Girl is set for big things this winter. Not bad for a girl who had to be hypnotized to cure her fear of singing in public! Being highly creative herself (she’s a songwriter, studied Set Design at college, blogs about fashion and even designs her own shirt collars) Sunday Girl makes the perfect ambassador for River Island Design Forum: our platform to showcase the latest design talent in the fashion industry. “I love that River Island is helping young talent develop and grow with such a great network of support,” says Jade as she looks through the Design Forum range. “It helps the designers with lots of creativity who need to bridge the gap to success.” The Design Forum collection in question, our fourth to date, was created by specially-commissioned, talented young graduates and features limited edition bodycon pieces, embellished mesh dresses and some amazing prints. Sunday Girl’s faves? “The panelled body and shaped blue dress. They are really flattering.” Another of Sunday Girl’s favourite pieces was the illustrated sweatshirt, which comes as no surprise when she reveals how she works creatively, particularly when she writes her songs (along with Jim Eliot who has previously worked with Kylie and Ladyhawke). “I like to draw my lyrics and write my drawings,
if that makes sense! I like my songs to conjure up pictures. My tracks have lots of sounds layered up, which makes them very colourful and free.” Sounds like this Design Forum collection suits Sunday Girl down to the ground…

I SPENT THE SUMMER TOUR DJING FOR KELIS. She is one of my best friends so we had so much fun over the summer. We did Glasto, Alan Carr: Chatty Man, Perez Hilton One Night In… London, Pride and T4 on The Beach (which happened to be on my birthday so 100,000 people sang Happy Birthday to me!) We’ve just completed the “Fleshtone” European Tour too - which was absolutely amazing.
I LOVE ALL THINGS 90S so I’m glad that clog boots are back! Obviously shearling is big this season, but I have been rocking my 90s oversized shearling jacket for a couple of winters now, so I’m looking to my favourite goose leather coat and studded Louboutin riding boots to be my winter saviours.
I BLOG EVERY DAY ABOUT MY LIFE AS A DJ. I write about fashion, music and anything that rocks my world – blogging started as a hobby and has now taken over my life! I also run a street style blog and event called Fashbashsoundclash with my friend, fashion designer Wale Adeyemi. Our Fashbash parties have an amazing vibe. A mix of the most creative people in London come out to hear my Beatnik Soundsystem, which features the hottest UK artists we produce records for.

I HAVE BEEN A PLUS SIZE MODEL FOR SIX MONTHS after I quit so-called ‘normal’ modelling in April. I love modelling but I love my food too! I tried every fad diet and exercised like crazy but my body just didn’t want to stay so small. It’s quite ironic that I’ve been getting more work now I’m a plus size model. FOR LONDON FASHION WEEK SS11 I took part in the amazing All Walks Beyond the Catwalk project. It’s such a wonderful project to be a part of as it promotes individuality in British fashion. Models of all shapes, ages and races were chosen to wear specially created dresses for the campaign (mine was designed by Hussein Chalayan) which was shot by the infamous photographer, Rankin. The photos will feature in an exhibit called “Snapped” at The National Portrait Gallery in February. MUSIC AND COOKERY ARE TWO OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS. I have a food blog called Nao-Yummy where I write about all the foods I missed before I became a plus size model. I spent a year and a half being sad about food so now I’m making up for
lost time! Check it out at http://nao-yummy. tumblr.com/ MY FOOD BLOG LED TO ME WRITING AND PRODUCING MY OWN SHOW, “Bitchin’ in the Kitchen”, which brings music and cookery together. The show is all about real food for real people. We cook amazing soul food - we even turned a recipe into a slow jam for one episode! The show has a 50s dirty housewife vibe so I’ve been wearing loads of checks, vintage denim, piled-on gold and my white oversized River Island shades which I’ve literally not taken off all summer. I SPENT MOST OF THE SUMMER AT FESTIVALS across the UK. At Lovebox Festival I hosted their TV channel, interviewing loads of acts, from Grace Jones to Dizzee Rascal, in between sets. My interviews were streamed live at the festival to thousands of people which was nerve racking but an amazing experience.
