Hard work by the matchmakers at the Botanic Gardens zoo has paid off for Jenny the miniature donkey, with a new colt moving in just in time for the July school holidays.

The couple has been getting on well, but there’s just one problem – Jenny’s new hubby doesn’t have a name. “Council staff have been searching for a male donkey since August last year and the only thing missing now is a name for the zoo’s latest addition,” Director Environmental and Community Services Janice Summerhayes said. “We’re giving the community the chance to name Jenny’s new beau, so if you’ve got a great idea then please let us know.

“There are plenty of options – perhaps something to do with Wagga, or maybe in honour of a famous donkey.” Jenny became Wagga’s most eligible bachelorette last August when Wagga Wagga City Council began her search for Mr Right. The pretty black and white girl was born in 2011 and is the second last foal of the long-standing pair of donkeys who were the zoo’s previous inhabitants. The yet-to-be-named colt hails from near Tamworth and is grey

to you Jenny’s quest for M r Right

The keepers at the Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens zoo are calling on the community to help play match maker and find a mate for their lonely miss donkey. Jenny, Council’s resident miniature donkey, is looking to be matched with her Mr Right and live happily ever after. She was born in 2011 and is the second last foal of the long standing pair of donkeys, who were the zoo’s previous inhabitants . This pretty black and white girl enjoys dining on fine grass, long walks in the sun and playing with her human friends at the zoo. Jenny is looking for the perfect companion who shares her interests and wants to start a family. “Council is looking for anyone in the community who might have a young male miniature donkey that we could pair up with our Jenny,” Director Environmental and Community Services, Ms Janice Summerhayes said. “We are keen to hear from anybody who is willing to sell Council their male donkey so we make the Botanic Gardens zoo his new home. Our wonderfully loving and caring staff will ensure he receives the best of care and he will always have plenty of visitors.” If you can assist young Jenny in her quest for love, contact Wagga Wagga City Council on 1300 292 442 or via email council@ wagga.nsw.gov.au
