to the regional economy,” Mr Burger said. “An effective taxiway network will maximise the operational capacity of the Wagga Wagga airfield, ensuring the airport continues to deliver for the region.” The improvement works will widen and strengthen taxiways A, B and E on the terminal side of the runway, which will allow larger aircrafts to use the taxiways and assist with increased traffic. Drainage works along the taxiways will also be included in the project. Tenders for the taxiway project close Friday 28 July. Construction is expected to start towards the end of the year.
TERMINAL UPGRADES
In addition to the taxiway improvements, the airport’s terminal is also set for a major upgrade. Concept designs for the new terminal are in the final stages. The terminal upgrade is expected to be completed in two stages – stage one expansion of the existing terminal building, followed by stage two, internal upgrade and fit out. This project has also been funded through the Restart NSW Regional Tourism Infrastructure fund.

Share your thoughts in the Community Survey From Tarcutta to Tolland and Glenfield to Galore – we want to hear from you. No matter where you live in the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area, residents will be able to share their thoughts in the 2017 Community Survey. The survey is undertaken by an independent research provider, with random phone interviews to take place next month. “The Community Survey gives you the opportunity to have your say on a wide range of Council services,” General Manager Robert Knight said. “You’ll be able to highlight what’s important to you, what’s going well and what we could be doing better.” The independent survey provider will be in Wagga Wagga from 27 July to 2 August to gather residents’ contact details so a representative sample of the community can be created. From 3 to 15 August, the survey provider will conduct the telephone survey using the details collected and also contacting additional residents at random from across the Local Government Area. “If you’re approached by the survey provider for your contact details or are contacted at random, please take the time to have your say and contribute to this important project,” Mr Knight said. The survey is conducted every two years, with the 2017 survey the first since the adoption of the new Community Strategic Plan 2040 - Wagga View.

“The Community Survey is an important tool in measuring Council’s performance as well as how we have performed as a community against the priorities identified in Wagga View,” Mr Knight said. “The survey also plays a vital role in planning for the future, with the responses informing Council’s strategic planning, how resources are allocated and the service levels that are provided to the community.” Residents who are not selected for the random survey can still have their say by completing it online from 10 to 20 August at wagga.nsw.gov.au/ communitysurvey. The survey results will be published in November.
WHY DOES COUNCIL DO A COMMUNITY SURVEY?
The survey allows us to capture information on what our community thinks of our overall performance and identify what is important to them. This helps Council identify priorities for the future.
WHAT DOES THAT DATA GET USED FOR?
Wednesday 26 July 3pm-6pm Official launch by the Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga, Greg Conkey OAM
The data will help inform the priorities in Council’s annual planning process and development of the Combined Delivery Program and Operational Plan. The data also helps us report on the progress towards the Community Strategic Plan 2040 - Wagga View. Lastly, the community survey allows Council to benchmark against how we have performed in previous surveys, as well as a comparison against other councils who use the same survey process.

Evocities campaign gets state funding boost Wagga Wagga will continue to be seen as a location of choice for city dwellers looking to make the switch to a regional area, with the announcement of $300,000 for the Evocities campaign. This latest funding contribution comes from the NSW Government’s Regional Growth – Marketing and Promotion Fund. “Our city has a lot to offer and the Evocities initiative allows us to target that message at millions of people in our largest capital
cities,” Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga, Greg Conkey OAM said. “This funding boost will allow us to engage a mass audience by building significantly on the existing marketing and public relations initiatives. “Wagga Wagga is committed to this campaign and it is great to see the NSW Government throw its support behind it.” Launching in 2010, Evocities has promoted
the benefits of regional city living, challenging the stereotypes and promoting the diverse opportunities, affordable housing and lifestyle change that await metropolitan residents who make the move. The $300,000 funding will support a multifaceted mass-media marketing campaign that will raise the profile of Evocities among capital city residents. The campaign will be designed to
challenge stereotypes about regional city living and highlight the seven cities as being legitimate options for metropolitan relocators looking for a city change.
