is being funded by a $2.05 million grant under the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program, and $925,000 from Council. A 900-metre section from Copland Street to Wagga Wagga Christian College and a 500-metre section from Lake Albert Road to Mena Street were completed earlier this year. Director Infrastructure Services Warren Faulkner said the return of warmer conditions has allowed the Stage 3 works to recommence. “We had to wrap up the roadworks in July because of regular wet weather and the cold conditions,” Mr Faulkner said. “However now that the weather is warming up, we are sticking to our commitment to complete the rehabilitation
which forms part of our strategy to improve the quality of our sub-arterial network around Wagga in this financial year. “If the weather is kind to us over the next nine weeks, we will have the road rehabilitated and reopened to traffic by Christmas.” The roadworks will be carried out between 7am and 5pm weekdays, and 8am to 5pm on Saturdays where required. “Council acknowledges the works may cause some inconvenience for residents and road users, but we appreciate the community’s patience while we deliver these necessary improvements.” For more information, visit wagga.nsw. gov.au/projects and follow the link to the Kooringal Road Upgrade page.
