FUTURE VISION: Wagga View team member Leanne Frow with Wagga residents Jamie Bratusa and Olivia Koth at the Wagga View pop-up shop this week.

Plan for future embraced by city The Wagga View plan has been embraced by hundreds of community members and a state parliamentarian this week. The draft Wagga View plan, which consists of more than 200 strategies that will help shape the future of Wagga, was endorsed to go on public display at last Monday night’s Council meeting. More than 400 residents have engaged with the draft Wagga View plan through a pop-shop at the Wagga Wagga Marketplace on Wednesday and Thursday. Feedback from the community on the draft

plan has so far been positive, Corporate Strategy Coordinator and Wagga View team member Serena Wallace said. “People in general appreciate how comprehensive this plan. It is great to see those that contributed earlier in the year come back and be able to link their response back to the draft plan.” As well as community feedback, the draft Wagga View plan also received praise from State Multiculturalism Minister the Hon John Ajaka. The Wagga View plan includes four guiding principles – thriving, innovative, connected and inclusive – and captures five strategic directions for the city. Inclusion was a new measure added as a

direct result of community consultation. Mr Ajaka was pleased to see Wagga’s commitment to being a more inclusive community. “The NSW Government wants to make NSW a more inclusive place to live and work for everyone, including people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds,” Mr Ajaka said. “I commend Wagga Wagga City Council on their commitment to making the local community, as well as their services and facilities, more inclusive for everyone. “My agency Multicultural NSW looks forward to working closely with Council through the Riverina Regional Advisory Council to consult and provide strategic

advice on the final version of the plan.” This State Government endorsement is a positive step forward for the city and helps strengthen partnerships across the different tiers of government. “We have aligned the Wagga View plan with state plans and policies so that Wagga is better placed to access funding opportunities,” Mrs Wallace said. “Although we are aligning with the state; through our community consultation and stakeholder engagement we have been able to tailor each strategy and solution so it is the best fit for Wagga.” Find out more about Wagga View at, wagga.nsw.gov.au/waggaview.
