Dog owners are advised that the Narrung Street Off-Leash Dog Area closed this week to permit access to work crews for the continuation of the Main City Levee Upgrade. These critical infrastructure works will deliver 1 in 100 year flood protection. It is expected to re-open by the end of June, weather permitting. Council has five other designated off-leash areas for dogs across the city, including an enclosed agility track at Lake Albert. These locations are areas where dogs can run, exercise and socialise leash-free with other dogs and dog park visitors. Pedestrians and cyclists are also reminded that the Wiradjuri Walking Track between Wiradjuri Bridge and Johnston Street is temporarily closed until May. This includes the upper track and lower river side paths and the community is advised to follow the closure signs and use alternative routes. The 6.1km levee upgrade project is being undertaken in stages, and the entire project is expected to be completed in mid-2020. When complete the $10M project will deliver 1 in 100 year flood protection to the CBD, critical city assets and thousands of homes.
