make the most of our city!
Stay-cations are all the rage at the moment and if you’re looking for a wonderful holiday-at-home, then Wagga Wagga is the perfect place – there are so many fun and fabulous cultural activities available right here in our city, without having to pack a suitcase!
Autumn in Wagga Wagga holds endless possibilities, from exhibitions celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Art Gallery to a whole range of talks and lectures to expand the mind. If you want to get your hands dirty why not try letterpress, street art, composting or simply making a Mother’s Day card! Are you looking for new ways to get together with friends? Plan a night at the Civic Theatre! The Tap Pack are a high energy stage show which will have you dancing in the aisles. Or, if you want to be serenaded by classical music then the Sydney Symphony Orchestra are back to amaze you with their extraordinary talents. Fancy a little cabaret? You will not want to miss out on Peter J. Casey: One Man Banned at the Museum of the Riverina in March. Peter has performed in Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and New York – now it is Wagga Wagga’s turn. March and April are jam packed with activities, from exhibitions to yoga, documentaries and concerts, fashion exchanges at the library and
experiencing public art in our street art workshops. March and April also see the annual celebrations of Seniors Week and National Youth Week! In April, as we commemorate 100 years since the Gallipoli landing, the Museum of the Riverina will host exhibitions featuring Wagga Wagga’s war time efforts with: He Belonged to Wagga: Our ANZAC Story (1914 – 1919) and Worth Their Weight in Gold: Wagga Women during WW1. In May the Monkey Baa Theatre Company present The Unknown Soldier, a play exploring themes around the unknown soldier aimed at both primary and high school students. In the lead up to ANZAC Day join local historian Leonie Moore at the Museum of the Riverina as she sheds light on Australia’s involvement in the Gallipoli campaign and the forging of the ANZAC legend. So put that suitcase away, get ready to watch the leaves turn red and gold, and enjoy the 100 little things that make Wagga Wagga such a wonderful city in which to live!

INSPIRATION: 1975-2015
Over four decades, Wagga Wagga Art Gallery has developed one of Australia’s most significant regional art collections, focusing on prints and glass but also showcasing the Riverina’s artists across many artforms. Inspiration draws on these exceptional collections, the National Art Glass Collection and the Margaret Carnegie Print Collection.

EVIDENCE IN POSSESSION: THE FORMATIVE YEARS OF AUSTRALIAN STUDIO GLASS Evidence in Possession reveals the importance of the specialised collection initiated by the Wagga Wagga Art Gallery in the late 1970s. The exhibition celebrates the contribution of early craft practitioners, and the historical and global significance of the National Art Glass Collection.
