make the most of our city!
Our City of Wagga Wagga was recently declared Australia’s most family friendly city in a national Suncorp survey and this Winter Cultural Guide confirms many of the 100 little reasons why we love living in Wagga! During the winter months make sure you take advantage of our cosy and warm cultural facilities. Explore stories of adventure at the Museum of the Riverina’s exhibitions Traversing Antarctica and He Belonged to Wagga – our ANZAC Story. Introduce the children to Henry Lawson’s The Loaded Dog at the Wagga Wagga City Library and explore stories of Wagga’s talented youth at the Art Gallery’s [dLux Media Art]’s exhibition. Join the celebrations for the United Nations World Refugee Day in June and explore the rich and vibrant Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures at the NAIDOC Family Fun Day in July. Are you already rehearsing your stories to share by the fire? Aim to be a master storyteller? Ensure
you secure your place in one of many workshops available this winter such as ABC Open’s Writing or Object Stories Workshops, the Museum’s Capturing Memories workshop or the Story Power masterclass by renowned storyteller Kiran Shah. Maybe you would prefer to watch stories burst into life on stage or screen, if so the 2014 Little Big Shots International Film Festival for Kids is back this year whilst William Shakespeare’s Henry V and the Australian play Food will provide a feast for the senses at the wonderful Civic Theatre. There are so many stories to share and experience and so much to look forward to in our beautiful City of Wagga Wagga this winter – enjoy!

THEATRE
YES, I REMEMBER IT WELL
HENRY V
From Gigi to Brigadoon, Camelot, Paint Your Wagon, to the most magical of all... My Fair Lady. Recalling the humorous song from “Gigi” and used as the title of this brand new tribute show, John Lidgerwood leads a young and exciting cast with the stories and songs from these favourite film and stage masterpieces.
Damien Ryan’s courageous production of Henry V promises to be an unflinching examination of the questions that Shakespeare raises; about political spin, patriotism, religion, class, monarchy, brotherhood and how leaders respond during times of crisis.
