WELCOME We are very excited to be welcoming students back into the theatre in 2022. We have missed the buzz and excitement in the foyer. In 2022 we are bringing you shows to inspire curiosity. Edward the Emu is sick of life as an Emu and curiously searches the zoo for a better animal to be. Big Nutbrown Hare and Little Nutbrown Hare travel to the moon and back in Guess How Much I Love You? For older students we have the Alphabet of Awesome Science. The show features Professor Lexi Con and Professor Noel Edge and a lot of huge words that inspire 26 science experiments. This is being presented together with the Wagga Wagga City Library as part of Science week. We will also be presenting the world premiere of a new Australian play. Black Sun/Blood Moon is set in Wagga Wagga and is inspired by the Fridays for the Future student protests. This work is sure to start some brilliant classroom conversations. 2022 includes the return of Bell Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors and a new production of Jane Eyre including a giant castle and real fire. Finally, we are thrilled to be able to bring the Sydney Symphony Orchestra back to Wagga with one concert especially for primary school students. We can’t wait to see you and your students again.

BLACK SUN/ BLOOD MOON BY CHRIS BEND ALL
FR IDAY 20 MAY - 10AM & 7PM SATURDAY 21 MAY - 1P M & 7PM R IVE RINA CSU PLAYHOUSE Two intertwining stories – one magical, the other all too real – bring two unlikely heroes to the stage in a new work inspired by the Fridays for Future student-led protests of 2019 and set right here in Wagga Wagga! Black Sun/Blood Moon follows Maddy, a tenyear-old climate champion, and Katie, the underachieving assistant of a climate-denying politician, as they set out to save the planet. When Paul unwittingly inspires his 10-yearold daughter Maddy to take part in a school climate strike, their lives are turned upside down irrevocably. Maddy’s journey will put her at increasing risk as she takes her message to the powers that be, while Katie will find herself on the back of eagles and dolphins as she attempts to fulfill a fantastical quest from the future.

SAT URDAY 9 J ULY 7.30PM Shipwrecked and separated 33 years earlier, two sets of long-lost twins miraculously find themselves in the same city on the same day. What could possibly go wrong? The Comedy of Errors is a hilarious romp of swapped identities, misguided love, mistaken imprisonment and chaotic mishaps, leading to an unbelievably crazy day for bumbling twins. At the heart of this tale of comedic misfortune is an old man searching for his lost children. He finds himself in a hostile land, in the fight of his life... to save his life. As far-fetched coincidences unfold, chaotic hilarity ensues and a man’s life could be saved — if only everything would go to plan.

Professor Lexi Con has curated a curious collection of her favourite words (one for every letter of the alphabet) with each word providing Professor Noel Edge with an inspirational jumping off point for 26 quirky scientific demonstrations – that squish and squirt, float and fly, erupt and explode. Together, this dad-joke quipping, prank-pulling pair of polished professors strut their stuff in a performance that’s equal parts explosive, messy, spectacular, hilarious, fascinating and gross. Plus, did we mention, this is a race? The plucky pair of professors have just 52 minutes to complete their alphabetical, scientifical countdown. That’s just 2 minutes per experiment! F RIDAY 21 O C T OB ER 10A M & 1PM More than an adaptation, this is a unique imagining of two beloved picture books, Edward the Emu and Edwina the Emu, combining the plights of both emus in one heartfelt, clever and funny new tale. Edward is bored with his lot. Being the only emu at the zoo has left him feeling glum and under the impression that the grass is greener in everyone else’s enclosure. Maybe being a seal, or a lion, or a snake might be a better option in life for a lonely bird? Convinced that the other creatures are more popular, Edward breaks ranks and goes to find the fun and along the way, finds Edwina! Follow the emus as they hilariously navigate their own feathered existential crises, seeking to find their place in the world. With exceptional, world-class puppets, an original score and inventive storytelling, the emus’ journey of hijinks and tenderness leads them to discover that the best thing you can be is …. you!
