The Wharf Revue: THE END OF THE WHARF AS WE KNOW IT
Created & written by Jonathan Biggins, Drew Forsythe and Phillip Scott
Performed by Jonathan Biggins, Mandy Bishop, Drew Forsythe, Phillip Scott and David Whitney
On target and brilliant ... a work of comic genius.
STAGE NOISE
After twenty-five years in the harsh and unforgiving spotlight of politics, The Wharf Revue has decided to step away from public life.
“It’s an opportunity to spend more time with family.” said a spokesperson. “At the end of the day, this is about the need for renewal. We’ll serve one last term to max out the super and then try to pick up some kind of consultancy work or do a series of Survivorlook, it’s too early to say but it has been an honour to serve the Australian people.”
Many public figures who’ve appeared in the show regularly over the years are lining up for a place in the final hurrah: Keating, Howard, Downer, Costello, Gillard, Abbott, Carr and other throwbacks too numerous to mention. Those who bear the torch of democracy today: Lambie, Hanson, Bandt, Dutton and Albo - a veritable “Who’s that?” of Australian politics.
So, join us for this joyous yet bittersweet send-off to one of the great national theatrical institutions - but please, no flowers by request.

Ratburger
a play by Maryam Master based on the bestselling book by David Walliams
Ratburger is a wonderful modern fairy tale. It's a great comedy, but also a beautiful play about kindness, bravery and friendship... and burgers!
PRODUCER ANDREW THRELFALL
From the creative mind of bestselling children’s author David Walliams (The World’s Worst Children, Gangsta Granny), don’t miss the screamingly funny Ratburger when it comes to life on stage, with visually stunning sets and charming puppetry!

From the team behind the Australian tours of The 13-, 26-, 52-, 78- and 91-Storey Treehouses, Dog Man the Musical, and The Midnight Gang, don’t miss this hilarious, action-packed, and touching play about kindness, bravery, (and of course) burgers.

Gladys: A Musical Affair
In one newspaper, she was The Woman Who Saved Australia – and yet a few months later she was gone, because of this relationship with Daryl… it had all the elements of classic tragedy. So we thought: ‘We’ve got to turn this into a show'.
NICK RHEINBERGER
The team behind the satirical "Gladys" videos during Covid present a new musical journey about Gladys Berejiklian, "the woman who saved Australia" but couldn't save herself.
After debuting Gladys in a rock ‘n’ roll press conference in the Black Summer Rock Opera Watch and Act, a crack team of musicians and actors takes you through the early life of Ms Perfect, from her flawless leadership through two disasters, until her biggest disaster, Dodgy Daryl from Wagga Wagga.
With music and lyrics by ABC Radio's Nick Rheinberger, Tia Wilson returns as Gladys in several colourful blazers. It's got big rock numbers, epic ballads, Armenian matchmaking, tap dancing, and even more musical press conferences. Get in line for the first Wagga Wagga show after their sold-out premiere at Sydney Fringe!

Superbly written.
MUSICAL THEATRE AU
Inspired by historical events, a royal scandal ignites a blistering fire between the steely Queen Mother and her children’s doting nanny in Melanie Tait’s sparkling new comedy drama.
Marion ‘Crawfie’ Crawford adored her job as governess to Princesses Lilibet and Margaret Rose… until she was ostracised without warning, despite dedicating the best part of her life to raising, educating, and caring for the young royals. The reason? A tell-all memoir.
From the creative team behind the sell-out success of The Appleton Ladies’ Potato Race, this blackly funny play imagines a series of pivotal moments between two strong-spirited women harbouring complicated resentment.

God of Carnage
Written by Yasmina Reza
Directed by Jordan Best
This fast-paced play is superb.
CANBERRA CRITICS CIRCLE
Two eleven-year-old boys, a stick, and some broken teeth are the catalyst in this classic comedy, which Echo Theatre have reimagined in a vibrant new production.
When two couples meet to discuss the playground incident between their sons, the evening begins quite amicably. Soon, however, the afternoon deteriorates from one of mild unease and discomfort, into a deluge of accusations, recriminations, jealousy, and rage.
There are aging parents, drug side effects, precious catalogues, abandoned hamsters, not to mention drinking, fighting, projectile vomiting, and the destruction of some rather lovely tulips.
Boys will be boys, but can the grown-ups be grown up enough to resolve their differences without losing sight of right and wrong?

Romeo & Juliet
By William Shakespeare Director Peter Evans
One of the most convincing manifestations of the 'star-cross'd lovers' you are likely to see.
AUSTRALIAN FINANCIAL REVIEW
Did my heart love till now?
Act 1, Scene 5
After a chance meeting, an intense but forbidden love is ignited between two young lovers, Romeo and Juliet. And despite the unending, violent feud between their families, they will risk everything to be together.
This raw portrayal of Romeo & Juliet will envelop you in the passion, the intensity, and the heartbreak of Shakespeare’s most evocative tragedy.
Peter Evans’ critically acclaimed production of the greatest love story ever told returns to stages in 2025. Introducing the magnetic Madeline Li as Juliet, this exquisite production is not to be missed.

Garabari
By Joel Bray Dance
Bray’s works don’t look like conventional dance... They also feel different because you experience them in your own skin. He thinks of his audiences as “co-storytellers” because they’re inside the work they’re watching.
THE AGE
Garabari is a contemporary dance celebration inspired by corroboree.
Joel Bray invites audiences to be part of a thrilling, large participatory dance, celebrating the power of rituals across First Nations cultures to transmit knowledge and connect communities through shared experiences.
A key element is that this work was made in genuine collaboration with the Wiradjuri community in Wagga-Wagga and the Riverina.
The work began as an instruction from the Elders for Joel, with their permission, to create a new dance to honour one that had been lost - a revival of dance and language.
This is an active event where you will participate and be part of the performance on stage. There will be limited seats available for observers.

Detention
By Tristan Bancks
Adapted for the stage by Callan Purcell and Kobra Sayyadi
Detention is a testament to the power of storytelling in theatre for young audiences; championing radical empathy, imagination and compassion
CALLAN PURCELL
A new stage production igniting conversation, change and truth-telling.
Detention tells the compelling tale of two young people from disparate worlds finding each other amidst a figurative minefield: Sima, a Hazara refugee fleeing a detention centre when her visa has been rejected, and Dan, a marginalised boy raised in a caravan park in regional Australia. Their shared quest for a sense of home and safety binds them together.
Based on the novel by Tristan Bancks, this production explores the refugee experience, centring on themes of displacement, belonging, and shared humanity. Developed in collaboration with Hazara artists and young people, Detention seeks to ignite conversations, using theatre as a catalyst for truth-telling and change.
