By Ron Giofu As delegates debated the future of Open Air Weekends, Amherstburg town council will await a staff report before making any further decisions. Town council heard from those wanting further investment into Open Air as well as those looking to have it altered and made into a one-day event. town voted to start the program two years ago and believed that instead of debating the event’s existence, the discussion should be more on adding to Open Air so that businesses can prepare for spring and summer knowing the event will be happening. Surveys were also

conducted during those events which showed residents “have a positive view of Open Air.” He acknowledged those surveys could have some bias because people being surveyed already agreed to come to Open Air, so THRIVE Amherstburg decided to conduct an online survey. THRIVE expected to have about 200 surveys completed, but Renaud added they ended up receiving 901 replies, “way more than a normal results for Amherstburg.” “The majority of residents definitely want Open Air back,” Renaud told town council members.
