Essex-Windsor EMS Chief Bruce Krauter addresses the riders in the Paramedic Ride last Saturday at the graveside of Russ Ransome. Ransome was a paramedic who died in a plane crash while on duty in June 1989 and was a colleague of Krauter. Proceeds from the ride will go towards national efforts to construct a memorial in Ottawa. Fallen paramedics honoured by Essex-Windsor EMS By Ron Giofu Members of Essex-Windsor EMS participated in a 100-kilometre bike ride across Essex County last weekend with the memory of a local paramedic among those close to their hearts. honour Ransome and to raise money for the national memorial. Rides have increased more and more this year after being impacted in 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and last Saturday’s ride was one of 32 Paramedic Rides taking place across Canada to raise awareness and funds. Lee recalled being in Ottawa and meeting up with riders that also came in from Quebec on a similar mission. The goal is to have the national memorial somewhere near Parliament Hill.
