By Ron Giofu Detroit Pistons Head Coach Dwane Casey kicked off the Amherstburg Freedom Museum’s “Freedom Achievers” program which includes the “Achieving Freedom in the 21st Century” speaker series. Casey was the guest speaker at last Saturday’s launch at the Libro Centre. Casey’s background also includes coaching the Toronto Raptors (where he won NBA Coach of the Year in 2018), the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Dallas Mavericks, the latter as an assistant coach. We’re not where we need to be,” said Casey. Casey encouraged people to embrace “anyhow love,” which is to meet people of diverse races and backgrounds and love them anyhow. He also challenged youth to tell those who care for them that they love them. People should also “get as much education as you can” and to “get as much information as you can,” Casey stated. Casey was introduced by retired MLSE president and CEO Richard Peddie, who now heads the Amherstburg Community Foundation. Peddie said Casey possesses values such as vision, values, ideas, energy, edge and teaching ability. Casey added he still has a letter from Peddie from when he didn’t get
