WATER FROM ROCKS GO ANSWER

Because God loves me, He provides for me

A giant rock wouldn’t seem like the best spot to look for rushing water, but that’s exactly what happened in the book of Numbers. God told Moses that water would come out of a rock to provide for the Israelites and that’s exactly what happened! Read Numbers 17:1-7 and 20:2-12 for the full story.

Family Discussion Questions • • •

• • •

What did God tell Moses to do in order to provide water for His people? What did Moses do instead? Moses had to learn an important lesson about obeying God. Have you ever had a problem that you knew how to solve but your parents or a teacher told you to do it in a different way? What happened? What are a few ways that your parents provide for you? Does God always provide what we want when we want it? Why or why not? Which is more important: Seeking God or seeking what He can give us?

DID YOU KNOW? In Oceana terminology, A flotilla is a fleet of formation of ships or boats

GOD PROVIDES

Pass out small pieces of paper and grab something to write with. On each piece of paper, write one thing that God has provided for you or your family. Use as many pieces of paper as you need as you think of each time God has provided. Take time to share about each story. Next, fold the pieces of paper in half and place them in a clear jar. Keep as a reminder of how God faithfully provides for His children!

SWIMMING WITH NAAMAN GO ANSWER

Because God loves me, He heals me

In 2 Kings 5:1-27, Naaman learned that it pays to obey God. When he listened to God’s prophet, Elisha, and washed himself seven times, he was healed. I’m sure there was a part of Naaman that thought Elisha was nuts! But his healing came when he listened and obeyed. Family Discussion Questions • • • • • • •

Did Naaman like what Elisha told him he needed to do in order to be healed? Why or why not? Why did Naaman go back and follow the instructions he was given? How many times was Naaman told to wash in the Jordan River? Have you ever had a hard time following instructions from someone in authority? What happened? Even though it can be hard, why do you think it is important to obey those in authority? What are a few ways that we can show honor to God? What is a way that you have seen obedience pay in your life?

CAN YOU REMEMBER? Without looking, do you remember what color Carlos’ pants are? What about his belt?

STORM AT SEA GO ANSWER

Because God loves me, He calms me

The true story of Jesus calming the fierce storm at sea was such an incredible moment that it’s found three times in the Bible. Matthew 8:23-27, Mark 4:25-41, and Luke 8:22-25 all talk about the crazy wind and wild waves that shook the boat that Jesus and His disciples were in. That day, Jesus proved to His disciples that He had power over even the wind and the waves. Family Discussion Questions •

The Bible tells us that the disciples were in great danger in the midst of the storm.

How do you think you would have reacted if you were caught in that same storm?

Why do you think the disciples woke Jesus up during the storm?

What did Jesus do when he saw the storm?

Why was it important that the disciples saw that the wind and waves obeyed Jesus?

What does it mean to go through a “storm” or hardship in life?

How can we trust in God when we go through “storms” or hardships in life?

Have you ever felt God’s presence in your life during a difficult time? What happened?

WOMAN AT THE WELL GO ANSWER

Because God loves me, He saves me

Jesus is famous for doing things differently than people thought He should. He loved people that others thought were unlovable. He forgave people who did Him wrong. He believed the best and spoke the best to everyone. God didn’t send Jesus to this earth for just certain people … He sent Him for the salvation of ALL people and that’s great news! That’s the good news of the Gospel! Read John 4:126 to learn about when Jesus spoke to a Samaritan woman. Family Discussion Questions •

What is something that you like having, but you could live without?

What is something that you absolutely could not live without?

Why is water so important?

Why was it a big deal that Jesus was talking to the Samaritan woman?

What did Jesus mean when He said that He is the Living Water?

How has Jesus saved us?

How does it make you feel knowing that Jesus’ love for you will never run out?

JESUS SAID “Let anyone who is thirsty come to Me and drink. Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:37-38
