Hudson County Community College Offers Spoken Word/Slam Poetry Workshop with Jersey City Slam Master

CATHOLIC WAR VETERANS

HALL

AVAILABLE FOR ALL OCCASIONS

It’s part Apollo Theaterstyle comedy, part hip-hop storytelling, and part dramatic poetry readings. If Spoken Word/Slam Poetry were a person, it could be poet Gil-Scott Heron, comedian Chris Rock, and hip-hop icon Tupac Shakur rolled into one creative force. Spoken word poetry is a modern twist, combining

storytelling, hip-hop, theater, comedy and political/ social activism. Slam poetry takes it to a higher level – into competitive poetry and the heart of spoken word movement made popular by shows like HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, as well as Button Poetry and Slam Find’s YouTube channels.
