With the surge of new cases in New Jersey, RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group and Jersey City Medical Center are offering swab-free COVID-19 testing with a primary care appointment at three convenient Hudson County locations. “Our efforts are to ensure that we have enough community testing and access to physicians to meet what we anticipate will be growing demand through the fall and winter,” said Jersey City Medical Center President and CEO Michael Prilutsky. Governor Phil Murphy has recently signed an executive order to reinstate measures to help curb the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19. “Getting tested – even if
you are asymptomatic – and self-quarantining for 14 days if you are positive are essential to limiting the spread of this infectious disease,” Prilutsky said. “Knowledge is a powerful tool that can save lives and ensure that our hard-working healthcare workers on the front lines are not overwhelmed by this surge.” Testing and primary care appointments are available at the following locations: •519 Broadway, Suite 3100, Bayonne, 551-214-3500 •1825 Kennedy Boulevard, Jersey City, 201-942-4545 •317 Central Avenue, Jersey City, 201-839-2640 Please call the individual locations for more information and to schedule an appointment.

Bayonne High School Drama Society Presents “It’s a Wonderful Life” By Rich Dwyer
T
hough the pandemic of 2020 brought down the curtain on live theatre productions throughout the region, the Bayonne High School Drama Society & BEN TV (Bayonne Educational Network) are demonstrating the resilience of the arts. An ensemble of Bayonne High School faculty, students, alumni and the community will present “It’s a Wonderful Life” as a live radio play that will be streamed through ShowShare from Thursday, December 24th until Saturday, December 26th. Director Brendan Wahlers said, “This public health challenge presented an opportunity for the Drama Society to find a creative way to use technology in the studio and bring this inspirational 1946 American Christmas Classic by Joe Landy to the public.” The radio production was written for five (5) to seven(7) actors; but, Director Wahlers decided to make it a community project and cast each of the 30 roles individually. Compliance with strict COVID-19 regulations forced Zoom rehearsals that were conducted for two (2) weeks and the show was filmed at BENTV Studio at Bayonne High School with the help of Multi-Media Production Teacher and Head of BEN-TV James Pondillo. Wahlers added, “This has been a fun project that I think everyone will enjoy. In some way,

Bayonne’s West 12th Street & Broadway Gets Approval for 10 Story Development A new 10 story development was approved by Bayonne’s Planning Board this month. The development at 9-11 West 12th street and 281, 283-287 and 289 Broadway was first scheduled for a November hearing of the planning board but moved to December due to an objector’s case. The site is located a few blocks from the 8th Street stop on the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail. “The proposed building

will replace aging and obsolete structures with a modern mixed-use building,” “It will greatly improve the neighborhood aesthetic and inject vibrancy and activity into downtown Broadway, building on the success of multi-family
residential developments to the south and north of this project.” Developers are envisioning 100 residential units, close to 2,420 square feet of groundfloor retail space, and 106 parking spaces with a “mechanical/stacked parking system.” The building would be nearly 135 feet tall.
