Plans for the ferry terminal are in the final design phase. The parking lot for the ferry passengers is expected to be 1.4 acres in size, with approximately 130 parking spaces. The number of parking spaces will depend on design,
In a previous attempt at establishing ferry service, the City of Bayonne selected Seastreak as the operator. However, the time for that selection expired, so the City of Bayonne has gone out to bid again for a ferry operator. The municipality’s goal is to select a ferry company by March or April 2025.
Mayor Davis concluded, “I am very happy that we have the contract with Port Authority to buy this land, so that Bayonne will have our own terminal and control our own destiny. This purchase will make it easier for us to achieve our goal of ferry service for our great community.”

RON SEMPLE’S NEW BOOK “ON THE STOOP”
Cont’d from Cover cherishing the past and cursing the present.
It was a working- class world of immigrants, their children and their grand-children, very American in its peculiar way, very patriotic, hard-working, very Democratic, mostly Catholic albeit with a separation of Lutherans, half- educated, highly opinionated, very tough, parochial in every sense of the word, hostile to outsiders, indifferent to criticism, prejudiced, misogynic, cynical and compassionate in equal measure, fiercely loyal, ignorant as spit, and it was a wonderful world to grow up in.
In other words, Jersey City as it was then, not as it is today. That vanished Jersey City will be the center of my story surrounded by a
a circle of other places whose radius was not much more than 15 miles. My family and friends lived within that circle mostly in Jersey City, Hoboken, Queens, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Union City, North Bergen and Secaucus. Mount Arlinton on Lake Hopatcong was the furthest reach of that world.
My family is mostly Irish and Italian with some Scots, Lithuanians, Slovaks, Poles, Jews, Albanians, Germans, Greeks, Mexicans and the odd WASP thrown in for blandness. You know, typically American. I should tell you now that much, perhaps most, of my family is not related to me by blood. But they are my family nonetheless and I love them all. You’re

probably not going to figure out some of the relationships, but, then, I have trouble myself. I am a card-carrying member of the Silent Generation. Uncomfortably wedged between the glorious Greatest Generation and the pain-in-the-ass Baby Boomers, we were born in the Great Depression and were children during World War II. These two cataclysmic events formed us. We are known for not making much of a fuss about our culture We only produced one president, Joe Biden, and as he was born in 1943, he had no memories of either of our seminal events. We were also known as Traditionalists which is a more accurate description of our core values. Most of us are gone now, so I thought I’d try my hand in telling how
some of us got the way we are.
-Ron Semple Semple’s ON THE STOOP, Growing Up in a Vanished World can be purchased at Barnes and Noble and online at BN.Com Ron Semple has written three previous books:
Black Tom
A tale of sabotage, subterfuge and political shenanigans set in that colorful, raucous place that was Jersey City in 1916 when America is on the cusp of war and the fate of a president and the nation might hinge on the decision a young policeman is forced to make.
Her Morning Shadow
Neither World War I, nor a pandemic, nor a revolution in the Ukraine, nor worldwide
chaos, nor J. Edgar Hoover can stop this determined , young American immigrant from keeping his promise and starting a new life in Jersey City.

Ron Semple & Warren Murphy
Publisher Note: The River View Observer asked Ron, “What inspired you to write ON THE STOOP,” Growing Up in a Vanished World,”he told us I really was impelled to write it for my family. I didn’t think many other people would be interested in my coming-of-age tale. But, as you know if you’ve ever written anything , your characters run away with the story. In this case, it was the Jersey City I grew up in close to century ago that’s all but vanished now The reader reaction has been wonderful. One woman asked, “Are you sure this isn’t the story of my family?”Any storyteller lives for that kind of reaction. I had written three previous novels centered on Jersey City but none of them got the instant reader response that “ON THE STOOP” did.
Being the seasoned longtime newspaperman who rose from cub reporter to publisher, we decided to use Ron’s Note to the Reader for our story, explaining his own book and background

In an age where biology and technology collide, Cheryl Gross’ work explores the boundaries between myth and reality. Do we turn to myth
to understand the world around us, transforming the familiar into the extraordinary? In a shifting reality, can these myths offer insight, meaning, and control over forces beyond our comprehension?
