MEET THE PRESS Spotlight on Printmaking at 313 Gallery Show Opens Mar. 17 in JC 2 Weekends Only by Sally Deering The art of printmaking can be seen on everything from T-shirts and posters to commercial packaging, and fine art. To artist Bruno Nadalin, who teaches printmaking at the Jersey City Art School, printmaking deserves some attention, so Nadalin curated a printmaking show that will feature artists who create in the medium.
Red Woman 1 by Alex Buzunov In the new show, Press Gang, which opens Sat, March 17, from 5-10 pm, Nadalin will feature the work of 30 printmakers at 313 Gallery in downtown Jersey City. On view for two weekends only, Press Gang will spotlight hand-made prints using printmaking methods like silkscreen, woodcut, linocut, letterpress, monotype, drypoint, etching, and lithography. All the work comes directly from the artist and/or in collaboration with a master print
maker; none of the work is digitally-manipulated. “People may not be aware of the tradition of printmaking,” Nadalin says. “For the show, I cast a very wide net and reached out to artists I knew who worked in the medium.”
