The event will feature food, drinks, and Ukrainian entertainment. A representative of Kyiv School #19 will be part of the program. Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis will be a special guest.

Hudson County Community College Hosts NJ Reentry Corporation’s Inaugural Summer Training Institute

On Wednesday, May 10, the New Jersey Reentry Corporation (NJRC) held a press conference to launch its Summer Training Institute for court-involved young adults at Hudson County Community College’s (HCCC) Culinary Conference Center.

HUDSON HAPPENINGS Jersey City Jazz Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary June 1-4, 2023

The Jersey City Jazz Festival is back and better than ever for its 10th anniversary celebration from June 1-4, 2023. The festival will kick off with JC Jazz Nights on Thursday (6/1) and Friday (6/2) at various venues throughout the city. It will culminate in a two-day free outdoor festival on Saturday (6/3) and Sunday (6/4) at the newly renovated Exchange Place Plaza, presented by Exchange Place Alliance and produced by Riverview Jazz. The festival will also partner with the Bike JC Ward Tour on Sunday, June 5, and serve as its finish line along the Hudson Waterfront. There is no shortage of talent for this year’s festival. Guitar lovers will be treated to performances by the incomparable Bill Frisell Trio (6/3), gypsy master Stephane Wrembel’s Django A GoGo (6/4), and Walter Parks & The Unlawful Assembly (6/2). Latin Jazz aficionados should be thrilled to hear Sonido Solar w/ legendary special guest Eddie Palmieri (6/3), the iconic Típica 73’s 50th anniversary party (6/1 White Eagle Hall), trombonist Doug Beavers Luna (6/4), as well as dance classes by Salsa Fever on2. Pro Arts Jersey City announces a new exhibit: Curators Choice Exhibition Curated by Katelyn Halpern

Pro Arts’ annual Curators Choice Exhibition is the result of Meet The Curators one-day portfolio reviews held on April 15th at City Hall. At the end of the day, the participating curators selected the artists they felt presented winning portfolios. These are the artists who will exhibit their work in the annual Curators Choice exhibition!.

Katelyn Halpern,

Curator: Katelyn Halpern is a multidisciplinary artist from Austin, Texas living in Jersey City, New Jersey. Trained as a dancer and writer and self-taught in other media, she works in installations, performance, multimedia visual art, and the written word on subjects of peace/not peace, intimate relationship, space dust, possibility-freedom-futures, and the experience of moving through the world in a feminine body. Hailed as a compelling conceptual artist, mischief maker, and born searcher, (Jersey City Times), she is the founding artistic director of SMUSH Gallery, an art space dedicated to creative and community work in Jersey City.
