When it comes to cultural events Hudson County municipalities far exceed in delivering fun, informative events to its residents. From Bayonne to Guttenberg, whatever the season,there is always something to do involving music, theater, art, comedy, dance. The following is a sample of events taking place in May and June.

(JCTC) is proud to present a series of performances and readings of new plays, in collaboration with the New Jersey Theatre Alliance Stages Festival. From Thursday, May 18 through Sunday, May 21, 2023, JCTC will host four events at Jersey City Theater Center, (165 Newark Ave, Jersey City, NJ 07302 / Entrance from Barrow St., Jersey City, NJ, 07302). Performances include: The Day’s Night by Rana Sajadi, directed by Hannah Hill (Thursday, May 18/7:30PM); Echoes of a Lost Son by Chima Chikazunga (Friday, May 19/7:30PM); The 75 by Anne Valentino, The General by David Taylor Little, Hideaway by Miri Fry Cohen (Sunday, May 20/4:00PM) and I Saw a Fruit Tree without Its Roots by Emma Lai, directed by Seonjae Kim (Sunday, May 20/6:00PM). The location of the event will be the lower level of DiDomenico-16th Street Park, which is situated between Avenue A and Newark Bay in Bayonne. Performances will take on the stage of the amphitheater in the park, which is located near the foot of West 16th Street. The rain date for the event is Sunday, May 21, from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. The music festival was organized by The Artists Avenue, a local, non-profit performing arts group. The event will be hosted by the City of Bayonne. The performances are free of charge and open to the public. Melissa Rada of The Artists Avenue will serve as the main emcee for the program. Rev. Dorothy Patterson of the Wallace Temple AME Zion Church will also introduce musical acts at the festival. Mayor Jimmy Davis said, “I would like to thank Melissa Rada and The Artists Avenue for planning this event to showcase several of Bayonne’s outstanding musical artists. We are proud to have such great musical talent in our community.”
The festival will feature sixteen different musical acts, ranging from bands to soloists:

Sixteen Acts, Food Trucks, Vendors, and a Mural The Artists Avenue and the City of Bayonne announced that the first Bayonne Music Festival will take place on Saturday, May 20, from 12:00 noon to 7:30 p.m.
Artists Avenue will present musical theatre numbers.
2:30 p.m.-3:00 p.m.Magdalena and the Saints, a band, will offer rock/alternative, and indie music.
3:00 p.m.- 3:30 p.m. - The choir of the Global Harvest Fellowship will sing gospel music.
3:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m.Melody’s Music Studio will present music from pop and musical theatre.
4:00 p.m.-4:30 p.m. – Marty, I’m Afraid, a band, will play pop, folk, and indie rock.
4:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.Noelis Cruz, a soloist, will provide R&B music.
5:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. –Thermadora, a band, will play rock/alternative music.
5:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m. –Kahuna and Kompany, an acoustic band, will offer acoustic/rock.
6:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. – Lost Romance, a band, will play rock tunes.
6:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m. –Bennett Rhoad, a duo, will play acoustic music.
7:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. – OC Jukebox, a band, will play music from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s.
There will be a temporary community mural designed by artist Justine Enriquez.
Food trucks at the event will include Good Food Good Mood, Latin Bites, Lady G Empanadas, Grey’s Area Grille, T-Bark Foods, El Chilango Taqueria, and Superstar Ice Cream.
The Jersey City Comedy Festival Returns June 7-10, 2023
Art House Productions and presenting sponsor Tito’s Handmade Vodka, are proud to announce the return of the Jersey City Comedy Festival (JCCF) taking place June 7-10, 2023 in Jersey City, NJ. JCCF will be held at two different locations, Art House Productions and The Laugh Tour Comedy Club at Dorrian’s Red Hand. 1:00 p.m.-1:30 p.m. – Dave Doc Watson, The Yes Yes Man, a soloist, will offer Blues, Jazz, and R&B.

In addition to the food trucks, other vendors and community organizations will be present.
The food trucks and vendors will all be located near the amphitheater on the lower level of DiDomenico-16th Street Park.

48 comedians from 12 States and Canada were selected from over 300 submissions. Selected comics will compete in five competition showcases June 7-9. Audiences will be able to vote for their favorite comedian at each showcase in order to advance them to the fi nale, headlined by Marina Franklin on June 10. All 10 fi nalists will receive spots at The Laugh Tour Comedy Club. Two comics (Audience pick + Industry pick) will win “Best of the Fest,” and receive $500 each. The audience pick will also receive a spot at West Side Comedy Club’s new talent show. The industry winner will receive spots at West Side Comedy Club, The Laugh Tour Comedy Club, and Catch A Rising Star.
