Join No Dominion Theatre Co. for America!: A Work in Progress, a 3-day online event detailing the progress of our latest work, the epic political drama America! by Michael Joel. Over fours years in the making, America! is told from the perspectives of a conservative news anchor, a suburban housewife, and a newly elected president and his opposition, and examines the American political system, the media’s effect on it, and how that system can go from seemingly bad to unimaginably destructive. Each day, we will share new content surrounding the play, from interviews, source material, performances, and more. WHEN: Friday, November 13 - Sunday, November 15, 2020 WHERE: Eventbrite Virtual Event Page (link to be provided) Tickets are pay-whatyou can with a suggested donation of $20. One ticket purchase gains access to all three days, as well as future access to any of the materials (after the event has ended). Any donation over $40 will receive a copy of the script in progress! 10% of all ticket sales will be donated to the ACLU. WEEKEND SCHEDULE FRI, NOV 13: Take a

peek at curated source materials that inspired the play, including texts, video clips, music, and images, and tune in for an interview with the playwright, Michael Joel, and our resident dramaturg, Carrie O’Dell, about the inspiration for the play and exciting plans for the future. SAT, NOV 14: Commissioned works based on the play will be available to view at your leisure on the event page. We are thrilled to commission our frequent collaborators and friends to develop new, original pieces in different mediums, using the play as inspiration. More details to follow. SUN, Nov 15: Our weekend concludes on with an immersive live virtual performance followed by a live Q&A with all of the commissioned artists. will present Virtual JC Fridays on December 4 at 7pm on Zoom. Now in its third iteration, Virtual JC Fridays is an online version of JC Fridays, a free, quarterly arts festival spotlighting performing and visual arts in Jersey City. Presentations include studio visits, art tutorials, music performances, and more. This event will feature ASL interpreters and closed captions. Admission is free, advance registration is required to receive the Zoom link. To register, please visit www.jcfridays.com. Also in December, the Art House Gallery will present “The Very Affordable Art Show,” curated by Andrea McKenna. For the past three years, the Art House Gallery has hosted the “The Affordable Art Show” with works $500 and under. This year, understanding the financial strain the pandemic has had on so many individuals and families, all works will be priced at $250 and under, hence “The Very Affordable Art Show!” The group exhibit will feature local artists from Jersey City and Hudson County. A free, virtual tour of the exhibit will be part of Virtual JC Fridays on Friday, December 4 at 7pm on Zoom. The in-person artist’s reception is scheduled for Saturday, December 5th from 12pm to 5pm, and Sunday December 6th from 12pm to 5pm at the Art House Gallery in the Cast Iron Lofts, 262 17th Street, Jersey City, NJ 07310. Eight guests at a time and masks required; contact information will be collected for contract tracing. Private appointments are also available; please email Andrea McKenna at gallery@ arthouseproductions.org to schedule. In early 2021, Art House will produce the 11th Annual Your Move: New Jersey’s Modern Dance Festival, the

This program is supported by a Masterwork Arts Community Grant. The festival will include online dance performances and artist talks. The festival will take place in January or February 2021. Art House Productions also provides private bingo parties for corporate events and personal celebrations. Previous parties have been held for company happy hours, college student groups and birthday parties. “My friends surprised me with [Virtual Drag Bingo] and the moment I joined the zoom call, I knew it was going to be amazing. The music was spot on to my taste, the jokes had me dying of laughter and the little roasts were hilarious. Everyone who joined the call had a great time. I truly enjoyed Drag Bingo and recommend it to anyone celebrating a birthday, bachelorette/bachelor party or need a way to stay connected with friends,” says Samantha of Los Angeles, California. To book a private party, please visit: https://www.arthouseproductions.org/pages/ onlineeventrentals Zoom is an online video conferencing software that allows you to virtually interact when in-person meetings and events aren’t possible. HUDSON COUNTY REAL ESTATE NEWS

Foreclosure Prevention Project for Struggling Homeowners Launches at The Waterfront Project with Support from Hudson County Many residents have lost income due to the COVID-19 health crisis. While much attention has been paid to the tenants unable to pay their rent, homeowners are also struggling to make their mortgage payments. Concerned about Hudson County’s struggling homeowners, Hudson County Executive Tom DeGise, in coordination with the Board of Chosen Freeholders, has launched a Foreclosure Prevention Project with local nonprofit organization, The Waterfront Project, Inc. The Foreclosure Prevention Project provides free, confidential foreclosure prevention counseling by an

experienced housing counselor, certified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). County Executive Tom DeGise explained that “if a homeowner is having difficulty making their mortgage payments, I encourage them to contact the Foreclosure Prevention Project as soon as possible, you do not have to go through this process alone. The County of Hudson wants you to get the help that you need.” The Waterfront Project, Inc. (WFP) has hired veteran housing counselor William “Bill” Paige to serve as the HUDcertified housing counselor. Bill brings nearly 20 years of foreclosure

prevention counseling experience to Hudson County. Bill previously served as a Sr. Foreclosure Specialist and a Homeownership Counselor for the Neighborhood Housing Services of Staten Island, The Urban League, and the Tri-City People’s Corporation. Bill Paige explained that a foreclosure prevention counselor will provide struggling homeowners with information and guidance tailored to their specific situation, “it’s my job to help you understand your options and, in many cases, help you renegotiate the terms of your mortgage, making it more affordable. If your circumstances do not allow

for you to remain in your home, I can identify programs that will help you relocate and transition into new housing.” The Waterfront Project, Inc. (WFP) is a nonprofit legal services organization and HUD-certified housing counseling agency serving low and moderate income Hudson County residents. Since its founding in 2013, due to the growing eviction crisis WFP has primarily focused on eviction through housing counseling by HUD-certified housing counselors and free legal representation in Landlord Tenant Court. WFP Board President, Isabel Chou, is pleased about this new partnership with Hudson County, “our expansion to include foreclosure prevention among our offered services, fits nicely with our eviction prevention work, both prevent the displacement of Hudson County residents from their communities and ensure that

vulnerable residents have equal access to justice.” WFP Executive Director, Rebecca Symes, explained a unique function of the program, related to a foreclosure registry that Hudson County has created giving municipalities the option to participate. “Local ordinances require banks and mortgagees to register as they initiate foreclosure proceedings. The program is available to all Hudson County resident homeowners. Hudson County Executive DeGise elaborated “there is no income eligibility criteria for this program, we wanted to make the program available to all homeowners, so there are no barriers to receiving these free services.”

Homeowners can schedule an appointment with the Foreclosure Prevention Project at The Waterfront Project by calling (551) 256-7578 or emailing wpaige@thewaterfrontproject.gov.
