The Young Novelists Sing & Tell Stories at Fox & Crow, Oct 20 Canadian Husband & Wife Harmonize on Home Town Life By Sally Deering When they first met, Graydon James and Laura Spink had no idea they would one day be married and become a world-touring singing duo known as The Young Novelists. Since creating their band in 2009, James and Spink have toured the U.S. and Canada, released three albums, and received some well-earned recognition for their original songs and stories. On Sat, Oct. 20, The Young Novelists perform live in the Parlour at Fox & Crow bar and lounge on Palisade Avenue. The place is a hip neighborhood hangout with a delicious menu (try the crab-cake sandwich – its fab!) and an intimate performance venue in the back where audience members can drink, eat and listen to some great live music without pretention. This will be the third time The Young Novelists perform their brand of Canadian contemporary folk music in Jersey City. “It will be our first time at Fox & Crow,” James says. “It’s just the two of us. We do a fairly intimate show, tell a lot of stories about the songs. I play guitar and piano and my wife, Laura does percussion, glockenspiel, melodica and keyboard – we have a range of sounds we

be on the agenda for the Bayonne City Council meeting on Wednesday, October 17. The City Administration is recommending the designation of SeaStreak, LLC of Atlantic Highlands, NJ as the operator of ferry service between Bayonne and Manhattan. SeaStreak responded to the City of Bayonne’s Request for Qualifications/Proposals from ferry operators earlier this year. Mayor Davis said, “We are very excited

about the return of ferry service to Bayonne. The ferry would provide a convenient commute between Bayonne and New York City, and would make Bayonne a more attractive location for commuters.” The proposed Council resolution states that “the City of Bayonne has identified a suitable location for the ferry operation at the former Military Ocean Terminal.” That location is along the Nancy D’Antonio Realtor Associate

The proposed resolution notes that “the City has entered into negotiations with the Port Authority for the lease of the land to serve as the base for the ferry.” If adopted by the Council, the proposed resolution would designate SeaStreak as the ferry operator. The resolution would also authorize the City of Bayonne to negotiate with SeaStreak “to effectuate the development and operations of a commuter passenger ferry.” Any proposed agreements with SeaStreak or the Port Authority would be subject to final approval by the City Council. Mayor Davis concluded, “We look forward to reaching agreements with SeaStreak and the Port Authority that will benefit Bayonne commuters and our entire community. The return of ferry service is yet another sign that Bayonne is making great progress.” WE HAVE  MOVED TO HOBOKEN
