Mile Square Theatre (MST), with the generous financial support of the Hoboken Business Alliance (HBA) presents a weekend of dance, music, and spoken word called En Plein Air, presented at the newly-created 7th and Jackson Plaza in Hoboken. On September 25th and 26th, Mile Square Theatre presents En Plein Air, a series of performances by a broad spectrum of artists. Also featured will be James and Jerome, a duo of
NYC musician storytellers, presenting Piano Tales; On the Waterfront Storytellers, a collective of Moth-style performers; and the MST Dance Academy Performance Group. This event will take place at the newly-developed 7th and Jackson Plaza in Hoboken on September 25 and 26. Mayor Jimmy Davis and the Bayonne City Council announced that they will present the fourth annual Paddle the Peninsula, a kayak event, at DiDomenico-16th Street Park, on Sunday, October 3. Mayor Davis said, “Paddle the Peninsula will be a great experience for all participants. We look forward to this fun event, which will enable our residents to enjoy recreation in Newark Bay. Come and have a great time on the water with your family, friends, and neighbors.” For safety reasons, kayakers must be at least 16 years of age. For more novice participants, kayaks will enter Newark Bay from the boat launch at the foot of DiDomenico-16th Street Park at 12:30 p.m. This year, more experienced kayakers will enter the water at Rutkowski Park and will paddle down to 16th Street at 11:30 a.m. Rutkowski Park is located in the northwestern corner of Bayonne, just north of Stephen R. GreggBayonne County Park. All participants should still call to register and to
obtain further details. Participants may either bring their own kayaks or sign up to use ones provided at the event. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided. The boat launch is located on Newark Bay, west of Avenue A, and below the end of West 16th Street. For safety purposes, the Bayonne Fire Department will have three vessels in Newark Bay during the event. The New Jersey State Police will have a marine vessel in the bay for additional security. McCabe Ambulance will have a unit on shore as a precaution for health and safety reasons. Registration for the event is required, so that the right number of kayaks and other supplies can be ordered. To register, please call Alicia or Alanna in the Bayonne Planning and Zoning Office at 201-858-6182. Mayor Davis concluded, “Paddle the Peninsula is just one of the many great activities that the City of Bayonne has to offer. We hope you will register and join us on Sunday, October 3.”

ART HOUSE CREATES CROWDSOURCED SONG “STRONGER” IN JERSEY CITY
After nearly 6 months, Art House Productions is proud to announce the completion of the Jersey City Community Song. In April 2021, Art House Productions embarked on the Jersey City Community Song, seeking submissions from New Jersey-based poets and writers of lines about the theme, “Life in the Pandemic and Beyond: Reflections of Yesterday, Dreaming of Tomorrow.” After receiving submissions from 18 talented writers, local songwriter and music teacher Carol Lester, curated and produced the original, crowdsourced song titled “Stronger” using lines from each submission. This project was sponsored by the City of Jersey City and Office of Cultural Affairs. Upon completion of the song, Art House asked community singers and musicians to perform the original work. The lyric music video premiered at Art House’s Virtual JC Fridays Kickoff on September 9. To view the video presentation of “Stronger” please visit: https://youtu.be/ GawNpKfjoBU. “I’m really proud of how the song turned out and I’m thrilled that so many Jersey City-based artists contributed. I love producing work that tells the story of a specific time and I think this song does a great job of reflecting the past 18 months. Much credit
