DAY 1 – Arrival in Rome

Arrive at Rome airport for your transfer to Hotel A. Roma or the Bernini Bristol for one night with breakfast. The rest of the day is free.

DAY 2 – Rome & Civitavecchia to Embark the Star Clipper

Discover incredible Rome on our guided tour. The Roman Colosseum, St Peter’s and the Vatican, the iconic Trevi Fountain; all and more are here. Perhaps admire haute couture in the Via Condotti, or sip coffee in a pavement café. Later we drive to Civitavecchia to board the superb Star Clipper. DAY 3 – By sea

A day at sea, so perhaps read on a sun lounger then cool off in the pools. Or you could visit the bridge or climb up to the crow’s nest (with harness!) for exceptional views. (B,L,D)

DAY 4 – Lipari

Anchoring off Lipari, we go ashore to Marina Corta for a walking tour of the delightful old town. Perched high above is its mighty castle. Visit the fine Baroque cathedral. You can also join an optional cruise to see the volcanic landscape of Vulcano Island. (B,L,D) + Included Experience – Guided walking tour of Lipari old town

DAY 5 – Messina, Sicily

We drive along a coast fringed with pine forests, citrus and olive groves to enchanting Taormina and its stunning gardens. Speciality food shops sell fresh pasta, olives and Marsala wine – and there’s the ancient Greek amphitheatre, overlooking the sea. We’ll also visit the famous Palazzo Corvaja. Or join our optional full-day tour to Mount Etna, the highest active volcano in Europe (lunch not included) and perhaps take the cable car, jeep and guide to explore higher levels. DAY 6 – Amalfi

Marvel at spectacular Amalfi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with terracottaroofed dwellings clinging precariously to the cliffs. We take a boat ride to Positano, with ancient little churches cascading down the hillside, to wander its hidden alleys and browse gorgeous boutiques. Return to Amalfi by boat to explore further. Alternatively join our optional visit to the enchanting village of Ravello with its attractive main square, 13th-century cathedral and Villa Rufolo. DAY 7 – Sorrento

Sorrento is a popular resort and the area is dotted with the remains of opulent Roman villas. We drive to Pompeii for a guided tour – streets, temples, baths and the amphitheatre are largely intact. Then we return to Sorrento for free time to enjoy its luxury shops and cosy restaurants. Perhaps try a glass of locally-produced limoncello. DAY 8 – Ponza

Ponza is a hidden treasure in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Inhabited since Neolithic times, the Phoenicians and Greeks built a fortified citadel here and the Romans a magnificent aqueduct, as well as temples. It’s now a beautiful holiday destination. (B,L,D) + Included Experience – Visit to Ponza

DAY 9 – Civitavecchia & Rome

We disembark and transfer to Rome. The rest of the day is free for you to discover more of Rome’s attractions. Check into your hotel and dine at a local restaurant. (B)

DAY 10 – Return home

Transfer to the airport for your flight. (B)
