There’s so much to explore, from the history of Levens Hall and Muncaster Castle, through to the historical voyages of the Steam Yacht Gondola and Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway.

Your itinerary

DAY 1 – Arrival in Kendal & Levens Hall

Arrive at your hotel in Kendal around lunchtime and settle in. This afternoon, enjoy visiting Levens Hall, with the world’s oldest topiary gardens. Tonight we enjoy an included informal welcome drinks and dinner to get to know our fellow travellers (D) + Included Experience – Visit historic Levens Hall & Gardens

DAY 2 – Coniston Water

This morning we head to Coniston Water, for a cruise on the beautifully restored Victorian Steam Yacht Gondola enjoying a guided commentary from the captain who will tell us about the history of the lake and what we can see. Afterwards explore the pretty village of Coniston itself, before. we visit Brantwood house and gardens, the former home of visionary thinker John Ruskin who inspired the establishment of the National Trust. + Included Experiences – Cruise on Coniston Water and visit Brantwood House & Gardens

DAY 3 – Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway & Muncaster Castle

We journey east to enjoy a return journey on The Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway, one of the oldest and longest narrow-gauge railways in England. Arriving at Muncaster Castle which has been inhabited for 9 centuries we enjoy a private lunch before taking a guided tour followed by free time to explore. DAY 4 – Kirsktone pass to Glenridding

We start the day by taking the breathtaking rail journey from Kirsktone Pass to Glenridding, on the shores of lake Ullswater, we continue through, Pooley bridge before stopping at one of the UK’s most important visitors’ centres, Rheged. Nearby we visit the Lakes distillery for a tour and a tasting of Whisky, Gin and Vodka we call into Keswick afterwards before returning to the hotel. (B,D) + Included Experiences – Rheged centre, Ullswater, Lake land distillery & Keswick

DAY 5 – Ullswater & return home

No visit to the Lake district would be complete without a visit to Lake Windermere – we start with a visit to Ambleside, before calling in at Bowness on Windermere – before returning to the hotel. (B) + Included Experience – Scenic drive to Windermere and Ambleside
