ACTIVE AND HEALTHY CITY

The way a city is physically designed can help to foster an active and vibrant community life. Council’s Vision is for Brisbane to be a place where 80 per cent of residents, visitors and workers walk, cycle or undertake physical activity daily and 41 per cent of people walk, cycle or take public transport to work or study during the morning peak period.

DIRECTIONSFOR THECITY PLAN

Council will review where parks are currently located or planned for the future and compare these to anticipated community needs. Provisions will be developed indicating suitable future locations and facilities that will be required (e.g. play equipment, shade, picnic areas, indoor sport and recreation facilities or infrastructure to support community markets, events and festivals).
