THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS Roles & Responsibilities
ROLE The RJO Board of Directors is comprised of nine RJO members, elected by the general membership, to aid management in decision making, policy review, development and implementation, strategic planning and maintaining the overall viability of the organization. RESPONSIBILITIES The Board of Directors holds four (4) meetings throughout a calendar year. Physical presence at all meetings is required. Meetings are held at the following: o Winter Buying Show – held January/February o Joint Meeting with Merchandise Review Committee – held in late April, early May – location varies o Summer Buying Show – held July/August o Year-End Review Meeting – held in October location varies Occasional availability for teleconferences Position serves a three-year term STIPEND: Members of the Board of Directors receive a stipend for their time and service. The below stipend applies to all meetings: $500 stipend Travel (economy class air and/or mileage reimbursement) Show Meetings: o Board Member receives up to five nights stay at the show’s host hotel depending on the meeting time o Receive a second room for store for up to three nights stay at the show’s host hotel
