More than 86 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research‐related education, making JDRF one of the world’s top‐ranked charities. Your contributions have a direct impact in making a difference. • Vision Gala Sponsorship Levels: $25,000; $10,000, $5,000, $3,000 or $2,000. • JDRF Individual Tickets: $250/person. Gala reservations required • Auction Donor: Make a contribution of underwriting funds, goods, services or experiences that are unique, creative and marketable for JDRF’s limited auctions • Fund‐A‐Cure: Give a direct contribution – one hundred percent of funds raised go directly to diabetes research to help find the cure. A diabetes research grant will be directed by our Honorees from the northern Nevada community. Fund‐a‐Cure donations will also be accepted on the night of the Gala during the live auction. DIABETES IS A DISEASE THAT DEMANDS ATTENTION

• Type 1 diabetes strikes children suddenly, makes them dependent on injected or pumped insulin for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications, including blindness, amputation, kidney failure, double the risk of heart disease or stroke, and shortened life expectancy. • As many as 3 million Americans have type 1 diabetes; over 21 million have type 2 diabetes • 40+ children a day are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, and the number is steadily increasing • Diabetes is the single‐most costly chronic disease at a staggering $175 billion a year in related medical costs. • Children with diabetes inject themselves up to six times a day just to stay alive and test their blood sugar from four to twelve times daily. Insulin is not a cure; it is only life‐support. DEDICATED TO FINDING A CURE The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is the leading charitable funder and advocate for research on type 1 diabetes and its complications. Founded in 1970 by parents to find a cure for diabetes, JDRF has directed more than $2 billion in grants for diabetes research to the world’s leading laboratories, universities and medical centers. In 2008, JDRF funded $195 million in cutting‐edge diabetes research. Through volunteers and staff at more than 100 locations worldwide, JDRF also provides outreach with social, emotional and practical support to children and adults who are newly diagnosed with diabetes, and to their families. JDRF offers a diverse support network for patients and relatives, including family‐to‐family programs and mentors provided by local chapters, extensive information for newly diagnosed patients on www.jdrf.org, a variety of online and print publications, and JDRF’s unique Online Diabetes Support Team, a person‐to‐person email‐based response program.
