We are asking that all athletes come to the registration expo to check in on Saturday from 9a to 4p in the Douglas Ormsby room at the Harrah’s Convention Center (3rd floor). In order to ensure that the race starts on time, we are asking that everyone pick up packets on Saturday. We appreciate your

understanding, and want you to take advantage of the great expo that has been put together for everyone. What will I receive at registration? Packet pick up will consist of your race bib, technical race shirt, special goodie bag from Trader Joe’s filled with product from our great sponsors, and enough room to fill it up with products from all the expo vendors. Plan on taking a lot of swag home with you after registration!! This is my first event? We will have special volunteers for our new racers available at registration. They can help answer any questions you may have and will personally walk you through every step of the registration process. Please take advantage of this opportunity to be sure all your needs have been met. What about the expo? We have a great expo planned with 30+ local vendors in attendance. Each of the vendors participating will be supplying all of you with products, information, etc with a focus on health and fitness. We will also be featuring speakers every two hours for presentations on running information, health and wellness, etc. We also will have a raffle to benefit our local charity foundation with great prizes from our vendors etc. The expo is free and open to the public, so please share this with anyone you think may be interested in attending. Skinny Water, Odwalla, Trader Joe’s, Fleet Feet and Country Financial are just some of our great partners who will be at the expo providing race items and services. Race Timing? Our event will be timed by Lynn Mentzer. Lynn is a long time Reno runner and has been doing race and track timing for many years. This will not be a chip timed event. The bottom of your race bib has a tear tag that will be taken at the end of the race with a bar code, scanned, and then times will be posted in the plaza area and updated every 15 minutes. Aid Stations? We will have aid stations on every mile of the course. Each aid station will be supplied with water, Gatorade, fruit, and nutrition bars. We have great sponsors that will be covering each station so please support them after the event by visiting their businesses: Course management? The course is well marked and also covered with 30 police officers and 48 military volunteers for traffic control. The course will be on both the river path and city streets, so please be sure to stay on the course at all times. The street lanes will be closed to traffic, so there will not be any cars on the course. This is an out and back course – please provide those runners coming back enough room to pass on the left. On the path, please run on the right side at all times. This will avoid congestion and possible accidents. We will also have 3 REMSA stations and 3 EMTs on the course to provide support to athletes. What about restrooms? There will be a portable restrooms stationed at various points on the course. Where do I park? The plaza area and surrounding streets will be closed for our event starting at 5a. There are several parking structures available on race day including the Harrah’s parking garage on Center St, the Cal

Neva, the Sierra St parking complex, etc. We also have parking available at the garage at 50 E. Liberty. Please give yourself enough time to find parking, and we recommend car pooling when possible. Sore after the race? Ralston School of Massage will be offering free athlete massages after the event. They are brining 20 therapists to support all of you. Please visit their tent on the plaza after you finish and get your massage! I’m a walker. What should I expect? We have a great group of walkers coming out for this event. Our finish line will be open until 2p so everyone will have an opportunity to come across the finish line and be recognized. Our aid stations will stay open until the last person has come through so you can expect lots of support on the course. Due to road closures, the police will reopen the roads at approximately 11:00a for the Half Marathon Course and 12:30p for the Marathon course. The course is still open, but after that time, please be sure to obey all traffic signals and watch for motorists. Also, please be sure to stay on the right at all times to allow runners to pass on the left. Have a question? All of our race staff and volunteers will be wearing shirts that are clearly marked. Please ask any of us for assistance. If you have a question in advance, please contact Doug McCoy – Race Director at (775) 722‐ 9238 or via e‐mail at dmccoy@rock‐n‐riverhalfmarathon.com
