Rogers Welcomes Regional “Rally with a Purpose” October 5-8

The Bikes, Blues & BBQ Motorcycle Rally announced earlier this year it is relocating from Fayetteville to Rogers for its main base of operations. The city’s recent infrastructure investments and central location in the region make it an ideal choice to serve as host. Even though the event will anchor in Rogers, it will remain regionally focused showcasing various activities throughout cities in Northwest Arkansas.

stablished in 2000 by local leaders, Bikes, Blues & BBQ is now the world’s largest charity motorcycle rally and benefits women, children, and the underserved members of the Northwest Arkansas community. Over the course of 20 years, it has raised over $3 million for local charities.

The family friendly event attracts thousands of visitors and

motorcycle enthusiasts coming annually to Northwest Arkansas during rally weekend. This popularity and growth helped it evolve quickly into a “Rally with a Purpose” with proceeds paid directly to charities in need.

In 2020, the rally funded $50,000 in grants to the community with funds raised from the raffle of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

Organizers encourage local nonprofits whose mission work serves women, children, and the underserved to apply and become year-round partners and volunteers. Rally Stimulates Regional Economy Rogers officials are excited about not only the benefits to local charities but also the regional economic impact especially as hospitality businesses navigate the recovery from the pandemic.

Raymond Burns, President/CEO of the Chamber, said, “If you look at what Rogers has been doing over the last 10-15 years, all the infrastructure that we need to host something of this magnitude has been under construction and development. Things like our convention center, the Walmart AMP, Topgolf and the revitalization of downtown with the new Railyard Park and Butterfield Stage.”

The Rally’s last Economic Impact Study found that the economic impact on the Northwest Arkansas Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) is over $80 million with an estimated sales tax generation of just under $5 million for state taxes and $2.5 million for city and county taxes.

“We’ve gone through two years of absolute hell for our hospitality businesses,” Burns said. “To bring this many people to town over four days is going to be a huge shot in the arm for all those folks. Not just in Rogers but everywhere. I think we’re looking for an operation that runs smoothly and safely. We’re looking for an operation that continues to give philanthropically.”

Rally Offers Safe Activities for All Ages The Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce and City of Rogers are currently collaborating with organizers, law enforcement agencies and first responders to help ensure it runs as smoothly and safely as possible.

Event organizers have enjoyed a longstanding relationship with local law enforcement and fund training classes for the Benton County Sheriff’s Office, among others, with security being the top priority.

The Chamber and City are also working with organizers to help promote the event and communicate essential information to the public.

isit Rogers, division of the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce, attended the 48th Annual Arkansas Governor’s Conference on Tourism held in early March in Fayetteville.

As the destination marketing division of the Chamber, the Visit Rogers team attended all events and educational

sessions, learning best tourism marketing and development practices, while also showing support for the tourism industry in the state and the region.

Keynote Sessions Conference keynote sessions hit on a wide variety of topics. The opening session, featuring organizational leadership consultant Michelle Shelton, addressed leading organizations through post-pandemic cultural shifts including attracting and retaining a diverse workforce. zark Beer Co. (OBC) first began production for commercial sales in 2013 in a warehouse a short distance south of Downtown Rogers. They moved their production facility and taproom to their current location at the corner of N. Arkansas St. and E. Chestnut St. in 2017. “Hard Work, Honest Beer” is a suitable slogan for a company that, in 2021, increased their seating with an outdoor patio,

City of Rogers Hires Permanent Chief of Police to Lead Rogers Police Department

C

ity of Rogers Mayor Greg Hines has promoted Captain Jonathan Best to become the permanent Chief of Police for the Rogers Police Department. Captain Best started with the Rogers PD in May of 1997, working in patrol, the crime suppression unit, and narcotic investigations. After promotion to Captain in 2015, he oversaw criminal investigations, training, evidence, hiring and recruiting, and the uniformed division.

He has promoted through every rank at Rogers PD, is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, and has been selected for numerous special assignments, most recently serving as interim Chief during the nation-wide search to fill the Chief of Police vacancy.

Having spent his entire law enforcement career with the Rogers Police Department, Chief Best is well equipped with knowledge of Rogers and its residents. He steps into this role with enthusiasm for the future of the department, and appreciation for the efforts of the previous leaders.

Ozark Regional Transit Expanding and Improving On-demand Transit Model
