SAVE THE DATES | 2018 Major Events 96th Annual Celebration of Business & Community | February 22, 2018 The Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Celebration of Business & Community (formerly the Annual Banquet) is an annual gathering of 1,000+ Northwest Arkansas business leaders who come together to celebrate business accomplishments and community excellence for the previous year. It’s the highlight event of the year for Chamber members, providing a fun way to socialize and network with peers. The event starts off with a Cocktail Reception serving a variety delicious, hot and cold hors d’oeuvres. After the reception, a one-hour program features the Awards Celebration and Gavel Passing Ceremony. Community awards are presented to outstanding individuals, businesses or organizations: Dick Trammel Good Neighbor Award (Rogers); Elbert S. Graham/Elza Tucker Award (Lowell); Spirit of Rogers-Lowell Award; the Small Business of the Year Award; and the Iaugural Barclay-Matthews Award for Distinctive Legislative Leadership. Nominations for awards are being accepted through January 12, 2018. The Annual Celebration ends with a Celebration Party honoring all the awards recipients over fabulous desserts and a coffee bar.

The Buddy Bass Tournament is an annual fundraising and community development event with proceeds directed towards economic development projects of the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce. The tournament, held at Prairie Creek Park on Beaver Lake, is the largest non-circuit fishing tournament in Arkansas and keeps growing each year with hundreds of local fishermen attending (700+ expected in 2018). Buddy Bass features a fun weigh-in attended by a large crowd who enjoy free prizes, food and entertainment while watching tournament winners receive their prizes.
Fall Golf Tournament | September 7, 2018 The Fall Golf Tournament is held annually at Lost Springs Golf & Athletic Club in Rogers. Teams of four enjoy building business relationships on the golf course in a beautiful fall setting. Just like the Spring Golf Tournament, some members invite their customers to play with them as a gesture of thanks while others choose to bring employees as a reward and show of appreciation. Prizes are awarded for top finishing teams and for individual winners of the longest drive, closest-tothe-pin and putting contests. Each golfer receives complimentary snacks and beverages, breakfast (morning tee time), lunch and entry into the 19th Hole Party where prizes are awarded.
Northwest Arkansas Spring Job Fair | May 16, 2018 The Chamber hosts both a spring and fall job fair for Northwest Arkansas in 2018 – these are the largest and longest running job fairs in the region. Job fairs provide local business and industry an opportunity to connect with local and regional job seekers, especially important as economic development continues to build momentum and more jobs are created for the workforce. The job fair typically attracts 60+ exhibitors and 300-400 job seekers. The spring event is held at the Frisco Station Mall in Rogers from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Spring Golf Tournament | June 11, 2018 The Spring Golf Tournament is held at beautiful Shadow Valley Country Club in Rogers. This four-person scramble allows Chamber members an opportunity to golf together and compete for prizes while enjoying business-building networking with players from other teams. NEW FOR 2018 The Good Life Experience | September 14-15, 2018 The Good Life Experience is the Chamber’s newest annual event celebrating the RogersLowell Area’s quality of life and culture of food, arts, and outdoors. The weekend kicks-off on Friday evening with a farmto-table dinner. On Saturday, low-cost workshops and classes on food, arts, and outdoors, “pop-up” in Downtown Rogers while a simultaneous marketplace with community business booths opens to the public. Sponsors benefit with visibility and recognition as community supporters to a large audience of families, young professionals, and food, arts, and outdoor enthusiasts. Northwest Arkansas Fall Job Fair | October 3, 2018 Each fall employers get a head start on hiring for the holidays at the Chamber’s Northwest Arkansas Fall Job Fair. The job fair is held at the Frisco Station Mall in Rogers from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and typically attracts 60+ exhibitors and 300-400 job seekers.

The event features a variety of shooting stations, each station presenting a different challenge for shooters. Some clay pigeons are launched high into the air, some parallel to the machine, and some bounce across the ground to test the shooter’s aim. Shooters receive continental breakfast, lunch, snacks, ammo, goodie bags and beverages.
Experienced and novice shooters alike are encouraged to attend and bring colleagues, clients, family and friends out for a fun day of clay shooting. There are two flight times: 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Bowling For Business | November 9, 2018 Not everyone can golf – but anyone can bowl! Join us for this exciting event in November. Bowling For Business is held this year at Fast Lane Entertainment in Lowell from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. for an afternoon of food and fun. This event is perfect for fostering teamwork among employees. It's also great exercise! Prizes go to the top teams. Awards are also presented for highest and lowest individual scores, best team shirts and more! he Small Business Council is a committee of the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce and was created to be the voice of the small business community and to provide guidance to the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce on the needs of the small business community. The Council is made up of Chamber members who own, work for, or actively serve small businesses throughout Northwest Arkansas. Some of the roles of the Council include selecting an Outstanding Small Business of the Quarter, selecting seminar topics for Chamber University and conducting Member Orientations.

C
omputer Science and Coding concepts are an integral part of Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs and courses that are offered to 6-12th grade students in the Rogers Public Schools. These skills help prepare students for future careers comprised of technology integration, computer science and
coding principles and programs. To help ensure that students receive quality instruction and opportunities to engage in authentic learning experiences (relating to computer science and coding that aligns with both current and future career opportunities) CTE courses are available in the Rogers Public Schools for both middle and high schools.

NORTHWEST ARKANSAS EMERGING LEADERS Offers a Mix of BUSINESS and FUN to Kick Off 2018
Lunch with a Leader | January 9 The Northwest Arkansas Emerging Leaders are proud to offer its members an opportunity to meet with Reece Morrison at the RogersLowell Area Chamber of Commerce’s Lowell office, located at 506 Enterprise Dr. Reece is the President and CEO of Morrison & Associates, located in Fayetteville. Reece has been a staple in the financial services community for more than 17 years. Opening his own office at 26, he has helped more than 1,000 families on their way to becoming debt free and financially independent throughout Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Indiana. Reece teaches families how money works so they may make informed decisions about how to take control of their finances.

Mixology 101 | January 25 Join the Northwest Arkansas Emerging Leaders and learn the art of Mixology at
Honeycomb Kitchen Shop, 213 W. Walnut St. in Downtown Rogers. The program will cover everything from bubbly to coffee and how, with the right pH Alchemy product, you can add a unique twist to a cocktail and take it to the next level. It will also discuss mixology tools that you will need to have on hand as well as techniques for mixing, stirring, muddling, infusing, etc. to create the perfect drink! Recipes will be provided, everyone will make 3-4 different cocktails, and delicious appetizers will be served.

Hustle in Heels – Ladies Lead NWA Hosts Inaugural Event
November | 2017 – The Hustle In Heels – Ladies Lead NWA program held a “Kick Off Your Heels” networking event in Downtown Rogers on November 28, 2017. Over 150 businesswomen from across the region attended to celebrate the launch of the new Hustle In Heels program, network with other area businesswomen, and learn about upcoming events in 2018. The Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce thanks Verizon for being the 2018 Empowerment Sponsor for the Hustle In Heels program, The Grand at 117 for hosting the inaugural event and The Cooking Studio of Downtown Rogers for providing hors d’ourves in November. Revenue and Ticket Sales Up at Walmart AMP in Rogers December | 2017 – Revenue at the Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion (AMP) for the 2017 season is projected to rise 4.2 percent to $11.904 million. Since 2014, revenue has more than doubled, from $5.850 million. Ticket sales are projected to increase 1.8 percent to 141,000 in 2017, from 138,500 in the previous season. Since 2014, ticket sales have risen 80 percent from 78,500. Top-line revenue includes ticket revenue, sponsorships, concessions, merchandise, fees and venue rentals. Revenue from the venue in Rogers pays for outreach and programs at the Walton Arts Center. The nonprofit purchased the AMP in February 2011, and it was relocated from the parking lot at Northwest Arkansas Mall to the Washington County Fairgrounds for the 2012-2013 seasons before moving to its existing location, off Interstate 49 in the Pinnacle Hills area. Design Excellence Program Unveils Grants for New Projects in Northwest Arkansas November | 2017 - Since 2015, the Walton Family Foundation’s Northwest Arkansas Design Excellence Program has provided financial support to entities such as school districts; county, state and local municipalities; and nonprofit organizations that intend to develop spaces for public purposes. Funds are earmarked for all phases of design work. Its current pool of local, national and international architecture and landscape designers now includes more than 50 firms representing 15 states, the District of Columbia, Canada and Denmark. Frisco Park Design and Rebrand In November last year, the Design Excellence Program unveiled grants for new projects that will enhance downtowns and urban parks in Northwest Arkansas. One of the projects benefits Rogers. The City of Rogers will receive funding to design and rebrand Frisco Park and the surrounding open space as part of its recently adopted Downtown Rogers Initiative Plan. The urban park will serve as a gateway from Downtown Rogers to key amenities in the area including residential neighborhoods,

Chamber Introduces BARCLAY-MATTHEWS AWARD for Distinctive Legislative Leadership

T
he Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce 96th Annual Celebration of Business & Community (Annual Celebration) on February 22, 2018 will establish a new award to be presented in the spirit of outstanding community service. The Barclay-Matthews Award for Distinctive Legislative Leadership is named in honor of Dick Barclay and David Matthews who served Rogers and Lowell in the Arkansas House of Representatives. This bipartisan award will be presented to a Northwest Arkansas legislator, or legislators, whose work in the immediate past regular or special session of the General Assembly has truly distinguished them from their peers. Award Nomination The nomination for an Arkansas state legislator to receive this award will originate and be approved by the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee. This is an exclusive award and will not be presented every year. This is an award of distinction presented for meritorious achievement by a legislator that will be presented at the Annual Celebration of the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce in the year immediately following a regular or special session of the Arkansas General Assembly.

Award Criteria The recipient must meet the following criteria to receive the award: 1. Be a current member in good standing of the Arkansas State Senate or the Arkansas House of Representatives. 2. Received a score of at least 80 percent or higher on the Northwest Arkansas Regional Legislative Agenda scorecard for the most recent legislative session. 3. Be considered of true leadership and character by exhibiting a cumulative body of work that includes sponsoring major legislation, or by leading on an issue that advanced the quality of life, economic development, and the overall interests of the citizens and business community of Northwest Arkansas. Bipartisan Spirit in the Presentation of the Award The first award will be established and presented in 2018 at the Annual Celebration. It will be handed out following a bipartisan recognition ceremony honoring both David Matthews and Dick Barclay. In subsequent presentations of the award, the recipient(s) of the award will receive it from a previous honoree who is a member of the opposite political party, the Governor, the
Speaker of the House, the Senate President Pro-Tempore, or from a legislative colleague of the opposite political party. Legislative Appreciation Awards to be Presented at 96th Annual Celebration Legislative appreciation awards will also be announced and presented to Northwest Arkansas legislators at the 96th Annual Celebration on February 22, 2018. These awards will be presented to legislators who received a score of 75 percent or higher on the Northwest Arkansas Regional Legislative Agenda scorecard for the most recent legislative session.

Poultry Festival | June 12-16, 2018 The Poultry Festival is a tri-state, nonprofit trade organization organized over fifty years ago, with a mission to promote and protect the poultry industry. The conference draws over 5,000 attendees nationwide to Northwest Arkansas. Walmart NW Arkansas Championship LPGA Tour | June 18-24, 2018 The Walmart NW Arkansas Championship Presented by P&G features 144 of the top female golfers in the world. The tournament is held at Pinnacle Country Club. 12AA Arkansas State USSSA Baseball Tournament (NW Arkansas Sports Productions, LLC.) | June 29 – July 1, 2018 The 12AA Arkansas State tournament will
be held at Rogers Regional Sports Park. Local tournament director, Tony Arnone, will host this 3-day event with a 3-game guarantee. Daisy National BB Gun Championship Match | June 29 – July 3, 2018 Daisy Outdoor Products, headquartered in Rogers, has conducted the oldest and largest national 5-meter BB gun match for 50 years. The event will have more than 1,000 attendees at the John Q. Hammons Convention Center. Senior Softball Midwest Championship July 10-15, 2018 Senior Softball – USA (SSUSA) will host 50+ teams in Rogers for its third-year event. This tournament will draw over 2,000 people to Rogers.
