Giving back to NWA: Arvest bank conducted their 13th annual Million Meals campaign which is dedicated to raising money through special events and donation. This eight-week fundraiser collects donations from Arvest’s four-state banks with the goal of feeding those in need.

Million Meals: The campaign runs on the principle that $1 can provide up to five meals through the local food organizations across Arkansas, Southwest Missouri, and easter Oklahoma.

• By the numbers: This year’s donations totaled nearly half a million dollars representing 2,298,291 meals.

Craig Shy, President of Arvest Fayetteville Region: “We continue to be amazed by the outpouring of support from customers, community members and associates. Through their help, we are now seeing contribution levels not seen since before the COVID-19 pandemic. We are grateful for their role in fighting hunger throughout our communities and for helping us once again exceed our ‘million meals’ goal.”

Why it matters: According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Arkansas and Oklahoma are ranked among the top five states for the most food-insecure in the nation. There is a need to help feed our communities and end food insecurity.

• This initiative has raised 4.1 million in funds since 2011 which equals 22.9 million meals.
