T

he Chamber’s inaugural event, The Good Life Experience presented by Northwest Health and event partner Tyson Foods, Inc., brought together the community in Downtown Rogers on September 14 and 15 to celebrate our quality of life that we enjoy in Northwest Arkansas and to showcase Rogers’ unique culture that magically blends food, arts and the outdoors. A farm-to-table, sunset dinner kicked off the weekend’s cultural adventure on Friday night serving up delicious, fresh-ingredients cuisine prepared by local restaurants. The dinner was casual and comfortable and set to the relaxing sounds of musician Eric P. Miller who delighted the crowd with his acoustic twist to old and new classics. Saturday was a fun day of discovery and learning for participants with both low-cost and free workshops “popping up” across downtown venues and a variety of special in-store activities hosted by downtown businesses. Dozens of local merchants also exhibited at the free Marketplace sponsored by Central States Manufacturing, Inc. to highlight products and services against the backdrop of local community artists painting a The Good Life Experience mural.

WORKSHOPS AND DOWNTOWN ACTIVITIES The Good Life Experience created an opportunity for residents to re-connect and visitors to connect with Downtown Rogers merchants and its new amenities. Downtown Yoga | Darcie Saunders from YogaGypsy led an outdoor yoga class on the beautiful lawn of First United Methodist Church in Rogers. Art and Music Walk at Lake Atalanta Park | Attendees enjoyed live music and artist demonstrations next to the water in the great outdoors of Lake Atalanta Park. Hands-On Pottery Classes in the Wheel Mobile | Families and young professionals alike tried their hand at the pottery wheel in this unique mobile art studio located in a renovated Winnebago (courtesy of the Community Creative Center). E-Bike Demos at the Marketplace | The Marketplace area of The Good Life Experience featured electric bicycles from Bike NWA for attendees to learn more and try a ride. Grilling & BBQ Workshop | Participants learned live-fire cooking techniques and walked away with new recipes and ideas. The workshop included delicious samples of meat and veggies prepared straight from the grill at The Cooking Studio of Downtown Rogers.

Homebrewing & Fermentation Class | This two-part workshop at Hark & Herald Co. included a panel of local experts that discussed different types of fermentation, followed by a hands-on session for participants to make their own customized, fermented beverage to enjoy at home. Cooking as a Family Workshop | Families worked together at this workshop to make a meal at Haas Hall Academy and learned where food comes from and how healthy foods help your body. Chef Erin Rowe and Presenting Sponsor Northwest Health shared familyfriendly and healthy cooking tips and ideas. “This was a one-of-a-kind event inspired by the excitement in Rogers as well as the greater Northwest Arkansas region for arts, entertainment, farm-fresh food, and our beautiful trails and parks,” said Maddie Ward, Special Events Coordinator for the Rogers-Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce. “We partnered with local nonprofits, artists, musicians, farmers, local businesses, and community members to bring together this special weekend full of engaging workshops and activities. We hope that everyone who participated from outdoor enthusiasts, to young families, foodies and the art-obsessed, enjoyed spending their weekend in Downtown Rogers celebrating our community’s quality of life.”

New Forum Inspires Women to Participate in Public Service

T

he Chamber’s new Women In Public Service Forum, a joint venture between Hustle in Heels – Ladies Lead NWA and the Northwest Arkansas Emerging Leaders, was held October 4 at the Embassy Suites Northwest Arkansas in Rogers with an estimated crowd of 70 people. Participants attended to get inspired by a panel of current and former women elected officials (from the city and state level) who talked about their experiences as women in public service. Stories were shared about their career journeys in the spirit of encouraging more women to participate in public service. The panel featured State Senator Missy Irvin, State Representative-elect Nicole Clowney, former State Representative and Washington County Judge Marilyn Edwards, and Rogers City Counselor Marge Wolf. Roby Brock, CEO of Natural State Media, parent company for Talk Business & Politics and the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal, moderated the panel. “Our Hustle in Heels mission is to empower, engage and connect professional women in the Northwest Arkansas region, said Carrie Wilson, committee lead for Hustle in Heels. “Across the nation and locally record numbers of women are interested in running for public office. This new forum was perfect timing for women in public service to share their experiences, motivations and challenges in running for office as a woman.”
