Kia ora Koutou, It was a pleasure to see all of you at our Investiture Assembly on Tuesday this week. Recognising and congratulating all our students who were endorsed with NCEA Excellence and Merit was a pleasure and I am very proud of the hard work and dedication the students have put it to this. Also, thank you to our teaching staff who have put in a huge effort in helping and supporting these students to achieve. We also had the chance to once again congratulate our 2021 school leaders and peer support leaders who received their badges. Thank you to you all. (further details on pages 2 - 5). I have just seen our Year 10 students returning from camp, looking slightly weary. There will be more of a write up next week with some pictures. All those spoken to seemed to have a very positive experience. After a few postponements, on Monday 15 March this week, we had our Swimming Sports day at the Rotorua Aquatic Centre. It was a day filled with our students competing and participating in our competitive and fun events. The new sized swimming pool was a huge success and we had fantastic weather which completed a great day. A big thank you to all staff for organizing, but most of all to our students who were so well behaved, fiercely competitive and had great fun. (further details on pages 5 - 6). We are looking forward to our Summer Tournament Week next week. I wish all our teams luck and success in their events including our rowers in the Maadi Cup (yes, I am the teacher in charge of rowing!😊) Have a relaxing weekend. Ngā mihi,

Jon Ward Principal / Tumuaki, wardj@rotorualakes.school.nz 1

___________________________________________________________________________ ROAD SAFETY YOUTH EXPO Last Tuesday Year 11's attended the Rotorua Road Safety Youth Expo at the Rotorua Energy Events Centre. It was a great day where our students represented RLHS well and got to interactively engage in activities about Road Safety issues. There was serious thinking happening about Road Safety, the risks, possible consequences and ways of prevention. Students had an awesome day and took home with them some important messages and some more information for families about Road Safety. Following on from this expo, Year 11 students will be looking more into Road Safety, the legalities surrounding driving and licenses and some further education around Road Safety in their Careers and Guidance course at school.
