It was great to see our students heading off to Wellington for the History & Economics Trip recently. It was a unique opportunity for our students to experience firsthand our parliament at work in the Beehive. They also had a fantastic day visiting Government House and the exhibitions at Te Papa and many more! Thank you to our teachers for organizing this wonderful and highly beneficial trip. Also, a huge thank you to Pub Charity Ltd for their generous funding which enabled our students to travel to Wellington. (further details on

FANTASTIC YEAR 12 TRIP TO WELLINGTON
In week 2 of this term, 29 Year 12 History and Economics students and 2 staff travelled to Wellington. This trip is taken annually and allows students to visit places of National interest as well as to explore possible career pathways. Students also gathered evidence as part of NCEA level 2 assessments. Luckily this year the weather held and the country had moved to orange so the students were able to make the most of their visits to Parliament, Government House, the Reserve Bank and the University just to name a few.
We are extremely grateful to Pub Charity Ltd, whose support of this trip in the form of funding the bus made it possible for the trip to go ahead. Without their support, the increased costs of fuel and food would have made it impossible.
A great time with great students. Thank you to everyone!
WAKA AMA
Last Saturday we entered a mixed team in a local regatta at Lake Okareka 5 km race. As our Secondary Schools Nationals were cancelled due to covid, we wanted our paddlers to experience some racing. Due to winter sports commitments and work, we struggled for numbers so made up our team with whānau members.
They were in the adult mixed novice section and our 3 students Capryce Proctor, Pipi Uhl and Jay Ward Shaw, had a fantastic race. They also got to use our new paddles and lifejackets that we purchased with Tumanawa Funding. We are waiting for the official results, but are confident we were either 1st or 2nd in their division!! HUGE WELL DONE TO ALL.
A special thanks to whanau, Sarah Uhl, Maurice Pomare and Stacey Pomare for making it happen and with such fun
