As always, we are most grateful for any help in this regard. If you are able to donate, please email Mrs J Richardson – richardsonj@rotorualakes.school.nz Thank you.
Lakes High are once again putting on a School Production, a musical drama/comedy called
"Down on the Farm". Dave is a farmer trying to make a living in a time when sustainability and looking after the environment are paramount. His current farm is not making enough money to keep the bank manager off his case. His girlfriend and his mate Phil are eager to suggest a range of very different and “interesting” options. Not all of them turn out well and when the bank manager has an overseas buyer, the pressure mounts. Will Dave keep his farm? What are his girlfriend’s and friend’s “ideas”?
Dates, times and costs: Wednesday 25 July, Thursday 26 July and Friday 27 July 2018 in the D C PRICE Auditorium The show starts at 7pm each night $15 for an adult and $8 for students aged 5-18 years - tickets available from Student Reception between 8am and 4pm, during term time Our last show was a great success and this one is shaping up to be even better. GENERAL ACTIVITY DONATION Each year the school seeks from parents a $70 donation per student, (this amount is included in the school fees account). This donation can be claimed as a charitable donation through Inland Revenue. At Rotorua Lakes High School we spend the donation on first aid supplies, school nurse, and to support co-curricular activities. It is unfortunate that we need to seek charitable support from parents / whanau for so-called ‘free education’ but government grants to schools do not cover a lot of extras.
Thank you very much to the parents and whanau who pay this voluntary donation.

BOYS SOCCER Lakes High 1st XI played on Monday this week to accommodate the away team. We had a few extra players as Sean Folley was off on injury and a few other players absent. The game began slowly but Josh Morley soon got the ball rolling....towards the goal! By half time the score was 4 - 0 with Jamie Trass and Josh Morley scoring. Cullen Dittmer arrived just after half time for his final game before he leaves for employment. Within the first 5 minutes on the field he got a penalty... he scored...on the hockey turf! He had some making up to do so managed in to score with a perfect placement from Brad Francis. Bruno Silveira Lino scored his second goal and Brad Francis also decided to score one himself. A great win of 8 - 0. Man of the match went to Cullen Dittmer who we wish all the best with his future. _______________________________________________________________________________________

In early February the Holden Street Smart Road Safety Programme was officially launched, a hands-on driver-skills programme that aims to equip young kiwis with the knowledge and skills to safely navigate our roads. Holden Street Smart is a world-class, cognitive based driver programme that aims to positively influence the lives of young kiwis across the country. The Programme has been developed with the involvement of worldrenowned road safety expert, Peter Sheppard. In addition, passionate road safety advocate, Greg Murphy, is our Programme Ambassador. Offering a practical hands-on learning experience, Holden Street Smart is a programme that aims to add to, and compliment, the great work already undertaken by NZTA, NZ Police and others in the area of road safety and driving training. Holden Street Smart is a one-day event providing young drivers and their parents/caregivers the opportunity to undertake supervised driving practice. There is a focus on developing good decision-making strategies for safe driving, including assessing themselves, reading the road environment, resisting peer pressure, managing or eliminating distractions and planning ahead. The Programme takes place in safe, controlled, off-theroad environments, under the watchful eye of qualified coaches plus the parent/caregiver. This provides the parent the opportunity to also assess themselves, in order to be a better coach and mentor to their teen.
Holden Street Smart will be delivering the programme in the July school holidays at the Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park, Taupo, on Wed 11 July Registrations are open for only $49 at www.holdenstreetsmart.co.nz Watch the video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oO49nI-gCGU
