The Rockford Region Vital Signs Initiative, a three-year program to create the first Regional Plan for Sustainable Development (RPSD) for Winnebago and Boone Counties, has released its final report to the community. There will be a 4-week comment period open until March 27, 2014 at which time the RMAP Policy Committee will take up its adoption.
The Regional Plan for Sustainable Development provides a 20-year plan for achieving sustainability goals covering the following 16 distinct areas: Housing, Safety, Civic Vitality, Cultural Life, Health & Wellness, Food, Land, Water, Biodiversity, Built Infrastructure, Waste, Transportation, Economic Development, Education, Technology, and Energy.
