WAIHI EAST SCHOOL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 23/2015
5 August 2015
Kia ora
Well, we have turned into a crazy yoyo school after the very exciting NED Show. The message behind NED was - Never Give Up, Encourage Others and Do Your Best. Thank you for supporting this outstanding event. Uniform standards are slipping– this is a shared responsibility between home and school. We understand that children like pushing the boundaries on this. Please help make sure your child is part of the East School Team and dressed in school colours– black, navy and dark blue denim (not coloured denim). Together we Rise Above and Shine. We are extremely fortunate to have the continuation of Doctor Tineke at school each Tuesday. Although it is free for all under 18 year olds to be seen at a medical centre, Tineke believes this is an essential service for our school. Go Tineke and Waihi Family Doctors I say! Team East whanau with the support of the school staff are planning a disco this term. The date will be determined by the availability of the hall. We would love your support with this event-especially supervising dancing (yip, no tag games thank you!) and the big clean up after the event. Many hands make light work! I will send out more information as it comes to hand. Nga mihi nui Emily (ehargreaves@east.school.nz)

KIDS PAGE Rapunzel's Forest Friends My doodle is about the first time I watched Rapunzel. I imagined what it would be like if Rapunzel had her own forest where trees grant wishes and fairies flutter around. The "G" is Rapunzel's flower bed and the "o"s, "g" and "e" are the dragon. By Kya A, Rm 1, 10 yrs.
Fairy Tales My Doodle 4 Google is about fairy tales for example the ‘g’ is the bush in (Alice and Wonderland) but I re-created tithe ‘o’ is the apple in (Snow White) the other ‘o’ is the flower, it is one of the flowers in (Snow White). The other ‘g’ is the evil queen in (Alice and wonderland) and the ‘l’ is the tall tree in (Alice and Wonderland) and the ‘e’ is a flower in (Alice and Wonderland). By Alize H, Rm 1, 8 yrs.
