WAIHI EAST SCHOOL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 38/2015
2 December 2015
Kia ora, This week we congratulate Phil Gurnick in winning the position as Deputy Principal at Miller Ave School in Paeroa. It is an awesome new journey for Phil, we are proud and pleased for him but extremely sad to have to let him go. Phil has made huge impact within our learning community and beyond. From high level sporting achievements, stunning results from his classroom practice and his beautiful relationships, Phil is a top man. So again, congratulations Phil, on a well deserved appointment. Maybe there is something in the water? Lisa North has been appointed to Waihi College to work with their international students. Lisa has been an outstanding teacher aide for the last four and a half years, and a thoroughly organized administrator in the afternoons. Lisa’s smile and caring nature will be missed. Luckily we are keeping Mahe so our connection to the North whanau will remain strong. With the staffing changes for 2016, also comes a slight rejig of our teacher line up. Beryl Hughes has been appointed in a fixed term capacity for 2016 and will be a year four teacher. Robbie McGougan will jump back into a year five/six class. Classes are currently being made up. We aim to share these with you at prize giving. Our athletics team had a mighty competition last week. Today Bernie and Monika are performing at the next level. Congratulations ladies. The school pool is now open. A massive thank you to Ross Cowan, our caretaker for getting the pool up and running. This year there is a $20 fee to have a key for after school use. This helps with the high cost of chemicals. We ask that you follow the pool rules that are on display in the pool area to ensure everyone has a safe and fun time. End of term brings lots of exciting happenings. To ensure you don’t miss out on anything, please keep an eye on our school website, as this will inform you of events that have been planned between newsletters. Nga mihi nui, Emily Hargreaves (ehargreaves@east.school.nz)
