WEEKLY NOTICES AND REMINDERS SIGN IN BOOK For safety reasons we need to know who is on site at all times. If you are spending time in your child’s classroom (any time after 9.05am) we need you to sign in and out at the office and collect a visitor's badge. This is in case of emergency i.e. fire, earthquake etc. CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY Assembly is being held this Thursday 10th November at 2pm in the hall. Rooms 2, 5 and 9 will be sharing. KAPAHAKA SHARED LUNCH To celebrate our awesome year of Kapahaka and the work of our talented tutor, Whaea Whetu, our Team East Whanau group would like to have a shared lunch on Friday 18th November. All parents welcome.

Before School Please be aware that students arriving before 8.15am ARE NOT guaranteed to be supervised. Between 7.30 and 8.30am, staff that are onsite are generally here preparing for the day of teaching ahead. This is valuable time for them to think and plan. Where possible we encourage parents not to send students to school before 8.30. Classes will not be opened until 8.15am. If students arrive earlier, they are welcome to play outside, but we cannot guarantee they will be supervised. STUDENTS SHOULD NOT BE ARRIVING BEOFRE 8am WITHOUT COMMUNICATING WITH THE SCHOOL FIRST

WAIHI CHRISTMAS PARADE Mrs Hughes and a group of Kotuku students are working hard on our Christmas float at electives. The parade is on Saturday 10th of December. and starts at 1pm and Waihi East School will be in it! Our theme is 'NZ Summer Christmas'. If children want to be on the float they can come and talk to Mrs Hughes, we will be keen to have them! Parents who want to help set up before the parade starts would also be appreciated. Carters Contractors are supplying us with a truck so a huge thank you to them.


AGRICULTURE GROUP DAY

Group day was held last Friday 4th November at Waihi A & P Showgrounds. Congratulations to all participants. Many ribbons were won on the day. Results RD1 Harvey farms Cup-Champion Dairy calf; Evah C. LIC Trophy-Champion Crossbreed calf; Reserve Rory D. Owhara Trophy– Champion of Champion calf; Ciara H. Gibb Cup-School Teams—Calves; EAST. Evah C, Alex E-J and Victoria E-J. This is only the 2nd time Waihi East has ever won this teams cup. Well done team!

DIGITAL LEARNING WORKSHOP Using ICT to promote children’s learning in a fun, interactive workshop. You will get practical tips and information about how you can support your child’s learning using online games and activities. It's FREE and FUN. RECYCLING MATERIALS NEEDED

Our Term 4 focus is 'Toi Pueru' which means wearable arts made from recycled materials. So we are still on the scrounge for any/all clean recyclables from your homes and businesses this term. Our learning inquiries will be based around how we can 'reduce, reuse and recycle'. We will be having a wearable arts show on 2nd December. AFTER SCHOOL SPORTS TOUCH RUGBY Wednesdays 3.30 - 5 30 at Waihi Rugby Club. Year 1-6. There is now a sausage sizzle running at touch. $2 for sausages and $1 for a juicy. COMMUNITY NOTICES FREE EAR CLINIC SERVICE FOR CHILDREN Visit the Ear Nurse for advice on; Glue ear assessment and management, wax/foreign body removal, grommet check and treatment of discharging ears. All children must be accompanied by a parent of caregiver. The Ear caravan will be at Waihi Central School, Moresby Avenue tomorrow, Thursday 11th November 9.30am-1.30pm. (closed for lunch 12 noon –12.45pm). WAIHI BEACH SCHOOL FUN RUN Over the Top Fun Run – Something for Everyone! Saturday 12th November, 2016 @ 10am This community fun run/walk is a school fundraiser with proceeds going towards finishing the school fitness trail. There are 3 different run/walk options (3km, 6km & 10km) so there is “something for everyone” making use of our unique and gorgeous beach/bush surroundings.
