WAIHI EAST SCHOOL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 36/2015
18 November 2015
Kia ora, We have all been on count down for our Twilight Market– one more sleep to go!! Come on down and join in the fun. There will be beautiful kai, drinks, fun activities, music and stalls. It will be a lovely way to spend a Thursday afternoon. See you there!! The leadership team has allocated class levels for our teachers in 2016. There have been some modifications to allow for personalities to be in different classrooms. The following teachers have been allocated the following year levels: new entrant– Sarah Cannell and Kirsty Smith, Year one-two Maren Johansen and Jude Fletcher, Year two-three Briar Frew, year three-four Nik Laing, Year four Robbie McGougan and Year five and six– Phil Gurnick and Rachael Coll. Children will be allocated to these classrooms before the end of the year. We look forward to sharing this information with you in December. Our Year six students are looking forward to a visit from Ross Cooper this Thursday and a visit to the College on the 3rd of December. We encourage whanau to join us on our College visit. It is a great way to have a quiet chat to College staff and hear about the exciting opportunities available at Waihi College. If you are able to come along, please let Phil know. Congratulations to Micah, Johnston, Brooke K, Evah C and Nicky T who competed in the Round the Bridges race in Hamilton over the weekend. Not only did you catch a bus at 6.30am, you performed to a high level and were fabulous ambassadors for our school. A massive thank you to Sharlene Kelly for this opportunity and Rachael for helping to supervise our students. We are a very proud school and look amazing in our school uniform. A few students are adding the colours of the rainbow to our uniform. We would appreciate your help to ensure all students are wearing black, navy or denim bottoms, as outlined in our Board policy. Nga mihi nui, Emily Hargreaves (ehargreaves@east.school.nz)

KIDS’ PAGE One day there was a big bang at the door on the shed. I went outside, I was very scared. There were lots of bats flying around me. I was so scared I bumped in to something really big, I stopped and I brought my head up really slowly. It was a monster. I ran away as fast as I could. By Aliya S, age 6, room 7. I was on level 2 of the bike track. Level 3 is too hard for kids. By Greer H, age 6, room 8.
