WAIHI EAST SCHOOL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 30/2015

23 September 2015

Kia ora, It’s the end of term already. The year is flying by and we will be sitting down sharing a kai at prize giving before you know it. I must pass on a massive thank you to all whanau for your contribution this term. We are very fortunate to have an amazing group who coach, tutor, transport and come into our kura to support us. The Board, staff and tamariki all appreciate your continued enthusiasm, knowledge and care. Last Friday’s Talent show was mega! Waihi East certainly has got talent! A massive thank you to Nik Laing and her organizing team, guest judges Josaye, Nyah and Maddy for their amazing acts and words of wisdom, and of course our competitors. What a way to show how we Rise Above and Shine! Today we had our sharing assembly with each class presenting an exciting transformation of an area around the school. This has been a tricky experience for some of us, and some perseverance and flexibility has been required. Check out what has been accomplished. Congratulations to all children for their ideas and endeavors. I am already wondering about the pumpkin competition and how to make my seed more successful next year. Hopefully you have received yours and are getting ready to plant the little beast. This year we are giving seeds to our year six, and warmly invite them back to school next year for the big weigh in. Next term our cunning plan is to have a hand ball competition. We are looking for a champion from each year group. You may like to spend some time at home developing your child's talents. All champions will receive a special tee shirt, one that can be warn as part of the school uniform. Lets get stuck in and have fun with this new initiative. We are all looking forward to our new senior school Deputy Principal starting next term. Rachael Coll will make an awesome addition to our already amazing team. Rachael will be teaching Room 3, a year 3-4 class. We look forward to Rachael’s contribution, energy and enthusiasm. This Friday is Cool Kids Day. Look at for your child's invitation this week. As always this is a fun afternoon to celebrate the work/mahi completed over the term. At the 1.45pm assembly before this, we will farewell Sharon Pickering and thank her for her contribution to Waihi East School. Come along and join in the fun. Nga mihi nui Emily Hargreaves (ehargreaves@east.school.nz)
