Healthy Behaviors

There are many things Rams can do to practice healthy behaviors and prevent the spread of COVID-19: washing our hands, avoiding touching our faces, staying home if we’re feeling sick and social distancing. These are the things we have heard many times, and as a reminder, here is why it is so important.

PHYSICAL DISTANCING

Many people have the virus but do not have symptoms, so they do not know that they are ill. Keeping six feet away from other individuals reduces the spread of the virus. Six feet is about the length of the average sofa.

WEAR A MASK

Cloth face coverings are recommended as a simple barrier to help prevent respiratory droplets from traveling into the air and onto other people when the person wearing the cloth face covering coughs, sneezes, talks, or raises their voice.

HAND WASHING FOR 20 SECONDS

Evidence suggests that washing hands for about 20 seconds removes more germs from hands than washing for shorter periods. Hand sanitizer isn’t as effective against coronavirus as washing with soap and water, but if soap and water are not available, use hand sanitizer.

CLEAN AND DISINFECT

Cleaning and disinfecting will lower the risk of spreading the infection. Students who live in university housing will be responsible for cleaning their university housing rooms and bathrooms. The university will provide cleaning supply kits to students who do not have their own supplies. Every Ram must also clean their personal space when arriving and leaving, including residence hall rooms, suite bathrooms, study cubicles or the library.

BE PREPARED

Bring a care kit to campus for fall. The kit should include: • A thermometer to monitor for fever • At least two reusable, washable cloth face masks • Basic cold and flu medications • Hand sanitizer or hand wipes • All 30-days supplies of prescription medications • Health insurance information
