Type 299 Pressure Reducing Regulators Introduction W ARNING Installation, operation, and maintenance procedures performed by unqualified personnel may result in improper adjustment and unsafe operation. Either condition may result in equipment damage or personal injury. Use qualified personnel when installing, operating, and maintaining the Type 299. If a leak develops in the system, the escaping gas may accumulate and become a fire or explosion hazard. Immediately call qualified service personnel in case of trouble.
Scope of Manual This manual provides specifications, instructions for installation, adjustment, maintenance, and parts information for the Type 299 regulator. Only personnel qualified through training or experience should install, operate, and maintain this regulator. If there are any questions concerning these instructions, contact your Fisher sales office or Sales Representative before proceeding.
Description The Type 299 pressure reducing regulators provide a broad capacity for controlled pressure ranges and capacities in a wide variety of distribution, industrial, and commercial applications. A Type 299 regulator has a pilot integrally mounted to the actuator casing as shown in Figure 1. The Type 299 regulator can handle inlet pressures up to 150 psi (10.3 bar) depending on orifice size.

Specifications W ARNING Since a pilot-operated regulator is constructed of both a pilot and a main valve, care should be used not to exceed the maximum inlet pressure shown on the nameplate. When inlet pressure exceeds the pilot limitation, a pilot supply reducing regulator and/or relief valve will be required.
Table 1 lists specifications for various Type 299 constructions. Some specifications for a given regulator as it originally comes from the factory are stamped on a nameplate located on the actuator upper casing. These regulators and their installations should be checked for compliance with federal, state and local codes, rules and regulations.
