One of the most exciting parts of DCON is the awards ceremony, where your club can receive recognition for all of the hard work you put in throughout the year! What Even is DCON? District Convention, or DCON, is an annual convention where Key Clubbers from all over the Rocky Mountain District get together to celebrate our amazing service year! At DCON we hear from speakers, attend helpful forums, participate in service projects, have an awards ceremony, elect our new district board, and even end it all with a dance! This year our theme will be Shine Bright with Service, and it will be held March 31st-April 2nd at the Sheraton Denver West Hotel, 360 Union Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80228. Distinguished Club Award The Distinguished Club Award is designed to recognize clubs based on performance, leadership, and dedication to service. To be eligible for this
award, fill out the annual achievement report that can be found at http:www.rmdkeyclub.org/annualachievement-report.
*Please remember that every club is required to fill out the Annual Achievement Report, but the award will only be given if you have enough points.
Traditional Scrapbook The purpose of the scrapbook is to showcase what a club has accomplished in the last Key Club year. The traditional scrapbook may contain pictures, souvenirs, newspaper clippings, etc. showcasing the activities during the year. Review the guidelines carefully, as failure to comply will result in a disqualification. Guidelines can be found at http:// www.rmdkeyclub.org/dcon.
Non-Traditional Scrapbook A club may submit a non-traditional scrapbook or composition of other media containing pictures, souvenirs, newspaper clippings, etc. showcasing the activities during the year. Review the guidelines carefully, as failure to comply will result in a disqualification. Guidelines can be found at http:// www.rmdkeyclub.org/dcon.
Digital Poster Clubs may enter either the digital or non-digital poster contest. These posters should be designed to recruit new Key Club members, and be appropriate to the standards set by the Objects of Key Club International. The digital poster is to be designed using online graphics or computer systems. For full guidelines visit http:// www.rmdkeyclub.org/dcon.
Non-Digital Poster Clubs may enter either the digital or non-digital poster contest. These posters should be designed to recruit new Key Club members, and be appropriate to the standards set by the Objects of Key Club International. Video Contest Video contest entries are to be promotional for Key Club as an organization or the club within the school/community. Entries must be created by Key Club members and may not exceed a cost of $250 to make. The length of the video may be no longer than 60 seconds, and must be appropriate to the standards set by the Objects of Key Club International. Entries will be judged on originality, promotion of Key Club, clarity of message, sound quality, picture quality, and overall impression. Videos must be submitted on a DVD in QuickTime format containing no copyrighted music. Entry form and further information can be found at http:// www.rmdkeyclub.org/dcon.
Major Emphasis This award centers around the Kiwanis Major Emphasis Goal, which is to help the children of the world. One club will be selected to win this award based on a service project that works towards accomplishing this goal. A service project involving The Eliminate Project, March of Dimes, or Unicef are all examples of projects that would be eligible. Award can be found at http://www.rmdkeyclub.org/dcon.
Single-Service This award recognizes clubs that perform an outstanding service project. Projects that are planned, organized, and produced by the Key Club occurring on a single day, consecutive days, or recurring on different days are eligible. These projects can be either hands-on or fundraising efforts. Clubs will compete with clubs of similar size, broken into four categories: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.
