Divisional council meeting DCON Final thoughts

Spring Rally Fall rally went off without a hitch, and myself as well of Division 9 and 11’s Lieutenant Governors had a lot of fun planning and having it! Spring Rally is a bit different from Fall Rally since Spring Rally’s main focus is to elect a new Lieutenant Governor! Spring Rally is scheduled to be on the 2nd of March, which is a Wednesday, so please mark your calendars.

Dues are still a thing Key Club International is an enormous organization with about 270,046 members. To support an organization that big, dues are necessary. In the Rocky Mountain District dues need to $12.00 minimum, and it’s up to individual key clubs to decide if they want to raise that amount to fund other things such as club shirts.

Why pay dues? *info provided by the 2014-15 Capital District Treasurer, Ruthvik Gali Dues are the determining factor in a club’s status in the district. A club in ‘Good Standing’ is one which pays their dues on time. If a club misses the deadline to turn in dues, which is December 1st, the club will receive an official notice from the District Treasurer. When February 2st rolls around and a club hasn’t paid their dues, they are placed under Suspended status and the club will have to pay a $100 fine along with the dues the following year to be relisted as a club in ‘Good Standing.’ In the event that a club neglects to pay their dues two years in a row, the club will be listed as ‘Inactive,’ which can only be rectify by the Lieutenant Governor of the Division, who will have to recharter the club. Rechartering a club requires a $300 fine and a minimum of 15 members and an official officer ceremony conducted by the Lieutenant Governor.

How to pay dues Visit the key Club International website, click the ‘Dues & Reports’ link and follow the onscreen directions.

Dates to remember November 1 – Early Bird Dues deadline December 1– Regular Dues deadline December 31 – First time late notice to Key Club President and Advisors to clubs that haven’t paid dues. January 31 – Late notice to Sponsoring Kiwanis Club and Second late notice to Key Club President and Advisors

It is crucial that a new Lieutenant Governor is elected for Division 14, so that Division 14 is represented on next year’s District Board. We, myself and the Lieutenant Governors of Division 9 and 11 had a good turnout for Fall Rally, but our goal is to increase attendance of Spring Rally! So, any and all key clubbers of Division 14, please attend Spring Rally.

Divisional Council Meeting Turns out I’m terrible at planning, and the Divisional Council Meeting scheduled for the 29th of November never happened due to me not realizing my family was celebrating Thanksgiving that Sunday. No worries, another Divisional Council Meeting is in the works! This time it will be over Christmas Break, and I’ll let you guys decide the date, so we don’t suffer another conflict of interest. I’ll be emailing the Presidents and officers to see what date in December, after the 25th, will work best for them! Just like I originally planned, The meeting will be held at Conifer Public Library, from 1-3 PM. I will provide snacks and drinks! A reminder of what Divisional Council Meetings are: a meeting between a Lieutenant Governor and the Presidents of the clubs in their division, or the officers, where the Lieutenant Governor is updated on the goingons of the clubs and planning of division wide service projects may happen.

DCON It’s coming. It’s near. And before you know it, it’ll be time to register for DCON! The District Board has been working extremely hard so that DCON 2016 will be a success, and we would love to see all the members of Division 14 there! December is a good month to start planning for DCON. So, within your clubs, talk about DCON, take a head count of who is going and who will possible go. Also, start thinking about how to finance a club trip to DCON. Talk to your club and decide whether or not to fundraise or do the 1/3 payment.

Final thoughts

rockymountainsecretary@gmail.com

2015 has been a year of intense growth for me, and I hope you all can relate. I apologize for the cancellation of the November Divisional Council Meeting, hopefully, we can have one in December!

Dave Harris (District Administrator)

My only goal for December is to not die during Finals Week. For all the students in Division 14, whose Finals Week is only a couple of weeks away: I understand your struggle, and I stand in solidarity with you all. Thanksgiving was last month and I hope you all had an amazing one! If you did it right, you gained at least 5 pounds and a couple of good memories. As always, I’ll leave you with a quote: “Regret is repentance.” - Prophet Muhammed
